    Air pollution by VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) is becoming nowadays a big environmental problema. For air cleaning TiO2 photocatalysis represents one of the very efficient AOP (Advance Oxidation ... Methods) that can decompose chemically and microbiologically stable VOCs. However, the photocatalytic activity of nanocrystalline TiO2 powders can be significantly suppressed due to the agglomeration of particles to microsized aggregates, TiO2 poor adsorption characteristicts for organic compounds and its relatively low surface area. These problems can be solved by immobilization of nanocrystalline TiO2 on the porous silicate supports. An overview will be given on the advantages of immobilization of TiO2 nanopartieles on ordered and disordered mesoporous silicates as high surface area supports in terms of efficiency ofthis photocatalytic system for decomposition of VOCs.
