  • Sustainable development as a factor of competitive advantage : quantitative measures and comparability

    Nation's economic systems evolved in an era of cheap energy and careless waste disposal. The whole system has to be changed so that future generations will also have the opportunity to meet their own ... needs. Taking into account the fact that you can not manage what you do not measure and that there are no formal measurement systems which allow real comparisons between companies the objective of this paper is to design quantitative measures of sustainable development. Three measures ecoefficiency coefficient, coefficient of the vital resources' net consumption and the coefficient of sustainable development have been designed to show the company's contribution to sustainable development of world. They help managers to foresee whether their actions lead towards sustainable development.
