  • Werther und einige sentimentale Werke der albanischen Literatur

    This paper addresses the influence of Goetheʼs Werther in Albanian literature, by focusing on the origin and the traces of the impact that Goethe's work has exerted on Albanian authors. Fortunately ... enough, Goethe's works were introduced quite early to Albanian literature, becoming a source of inspiration for Albanian authors and particularly for Romantic literary movements. This study will examine early Albanian authors who seem to have used primarily Werther during the creation of their work; such works include Bardha e Temalit ('Bardha of Temal') which was written by Pashko Vasa in 1890, as well as the so-called sentimental novels of the 1930ʼs which elicited a powerful reception amongst the Albanian audience of the time.
