  • The impact of enzyme application on pre-treatment of cotton fabric regarding pollution parameters [Elektronski vir]

    The current preparation of cotton fabric prior dyeing generally involves a combined process, i.e. scouring and peroxide bleaching. The main objective of this research was to compare different ... pre-treatment procedures (conventional alkaline and enzymatic scouring), followed by bleaching (one- or two-baths) with the intention to reduce the consumption of water, energy, chemicals and pollution parameters in the effluents. Different pretreated samples were colorimetrically evaluated and some physical-mechanical properties studied to determine the efficiency of individual procedure and eventual mechanical damages of treated material. The obtained results indicate that enzymatic scouring and bleaching in one-bath is a good alternative to conventional alkaline scouring/bleaching considering the reduction of treatment time, energy and pollution parameters.
