  • Očetovo izražanje navezanosti do novorojenca glede na prisotnost pri porodu = Paternal attachment behaviour as related to presence at delivery
    Peršolja, Melita
The study explored father infant attachment behavior and its relationship to presence at delivery The sample consisted of 40 fathers and their infants who were observed in the mother's hospital room ... in Ljubljana maternity hospital, between 12 and 96 hours aher delivery Fathers were divided in two groups: fathers who were not present at delivery and those who were. The paternal attachment behaviors observed were: inspection, verbalisation, smiling, touching, en face position and holding. The infant behaviors observed were: sleep, drowsy quiet alert active alert and crying. Fathers who were present atdelivery demonstrated more attachment behavior but statistically significantonly in two undercategories (telling stories, touching hands). Correlations between infant state and paternal attachment behaviors indicated a significant inverse relationship between distal and proximal attachment behaviors and sleep state; and a significant positive correlation between patemal attachment behaviors and quiet alert and active alert state. The studyshows, that men's feeling of powerlesness is the biggest impediment for being present at delivery - but the most significant stimulation is women's wish.
