  • Hormonska kontracepcija in metabolizem kosti = Hormonal contraception and bone metabolism
    Pinter, Bojana
Background. Sex hormones play the key role in bone gain and its maintenance. The influences of combined oral contraception and depo progestagens on metabolic processes have been thoroughly ... researched. However, their influence on bone metabolism has not been clarified yet. In the article the studies on influences of combined oral contraception and depo progestagens on the bone metabolism are summarized. Conclusions. Bone metabolism is decreased by the use of combined oral contraception. Decreased bone metabolism in adult and premenopausal women results in bone mass preservation, but the effect on bone mass in adolescence and young adulthood has not been clarified yet. Bone mass is decreased by the use of depo medroxyprogesteron acetat, but is not affectedby the use of levonorgestrel subdermal implants.
