  • Fizioterapija pri bolnikih z zunajsklepnim revmatizmom = Physical therapy of nonarticular rheumatism
    Matoic, Branka
Nonarticular rheumatism denotes some diseases of soft tissue of musculosceletal system. Muscles and muscular fasciae, tendons and their sheaths, bursae, articular capsules and tendinousmuscular, ... ligaments or aponeurotic attachments to the bone can be affected. There is an underlying degenerative process, which is often combined with secondary inflammatory reaction. As distinguished from articular rheumatism where medicamentous therapy is more effective than physical therapy, it is just the opposite in treatment of extraarticular rheumatism. Choice of physical therapeutic methodsfor a particular disorder depends on the prevailing pathologic process, local characteristics of the affected region and the disease phase. Ifdegenerative process is prevailing, all those physical procedures which improve hyperemia come into consideration and thus promote the restoration of damaged tissue and the regeneration process, including the ones which increaselocal temperature. In inflammatory processes, however, the thermal procedures are to be avoided. Kinesiotherapy, which plays a deciding role in the chronic phase of the disease, is not recommended in the acute phase as a rule. The principles of physiotherapy for individual diseases, ranged according to regions, are given in the article.
