  • Feeding behaviour of six bird species (Passeriformes) at a bird feeder = Prehranjevalno vedenje šestih vrst ptic (Passeriformes) na ptičji krmilnici
    Mihelič, Tina, 2000- ; Klokočovnik, Vesna, 1981-
Many people feed wild birds because it connects them to nature. It is also an opportunity to learn about different bird species, their feeding behaviour, and their food preferences. Despite the ... positive effects, this activity can also have negative consequences, especially if it is done inappropriately. During February and March 2022, data was collected to determine the feeding preferences and behaviour of birds at a bird feeder. All bird species fed most frequently at the same time of day, between 07:00 and 10:00. Bird species of the family Paridae had similar food preferences and feeding behaviour. The great tit, Eurasian blue tit, marsh tit, and crested tit preferred walnuts over any other food, while the European robin and Eurasian nuthatch preferred hulled sunflower seeds. The crested tit was most often chased away by other species, while the Eurasian nuthatch chased away all the species with which it had interactions.
