  • Intertextuality between American modernist poets and Slovene poets/translators
    Šalamon, Samo
This paper presents the intertextual relationship between some American modernist poets and Slovene poets/translators, Tone Škrjanec and Primož Čučnik. The former translated the poetry of Charles ... Bukowski, Frank O'Hara, and Gary Snyder and took over some ofthe elements oftheir poetics. Similarly, Primož Čučnik adapted the poetics of Frank O'Hara, whom he translated into Slovene. In both cases translation represents one of the best tools to learn the poetic craft and to mediate artistic knowledge between poets of different languages/cultures. By translating the selected American poets, poets/translators changed their own poetics by gaining and introducing new poetic knowledge in their writing.
