    This study examined the safety and efficacy of I.A CS injection in patients with JIA who were treated in Children's Hospital in Ljubljana. This study was conducted on 24 patients with JIA. 36 US ... guided LA.: of CS were performed fromApril 2002 to May 2004 in Children's Hospital in Ljubljana. 15 children had one injection of CS, 8 had two and one child had three. Mean age at first application was 11,5 years. Application was technically successful in all procedures. There were no adverse effects. In 23 children (96%) there were clinical improvements of arthritis during first 24 to 72 hours after the procedure. A good response was defined as complete resolution of signs of arthritis during first six months after injection of CS. 17 children (70%) were in this group. US guided LA. application of CS is safe and effective modein the treatment of chronic arthritis in childhood. LA. applicaton of CS provides marked, rapid relief of pain, allowing mobilization of the stiff joint and correction of defonnity.
