  • Vpliv nosečnosti na mišično-skeletni sistem = Influence of pregnancy on the musculoskeletal system
    Premru-Sršen, Tanja
Raised levels of hormones, especially relaxin, during pregnancy cause increased ligament laxity and softening of the cartilage. Posture in a pregnant women is changed because of the growing uterus. ... Progressive lumbar lordosis occurs shifts the centre of gravity back over the lower extremities, leading to development of anterior flexion of the neck and slumping of the shoulders. Ligament laxity can cause a widening and increased motion of the symphysis and increased motion of the sacroiliac joints that lead to the destabilization of the pelvic ring. Increased motion of the pelvic joints withprogressive lumbar lordosis and growing uterus could cause problems, with low back pain and pubic pain with radiation to the groin and buttocks. Similarproblems are present in case of osteonecrosis of the femoral head and transient osteoporosis of the hip, conditions which may have poor outcome, so it is very important to differentiate these conditions from more benign pathology.
