    Bank stocks are an important segment of the investment, since they present a large part of the market capitalization in developed markets. However, the drop in stock prices of many European and ... global banks since 2009 may have unduly discouraged from such investments. Willingness of investors to buy bank stocks depends on its expected return. When the price of capital is low, investors will be encouraged to enter into long term investment in the banking sector. In this paper we review the findings of empirical studies on idiosyncratic risk of bank stocks according to several criteria, like the size of the bank. We present the impact of systematic risk on bank stocks (beta). We comment the impact of leverage in bank stocks as the cause of their higher risk and volatility compared to non-financial companiesʼ stocks.
