  • New ways and means of the West-East economic co-operation on the sub-state level
    Klojčnik, Jasmina
The cooperation between th European West and East is in the field of economics going through a very sensitive phase in the recent years and this will also be the case in the next years, reaching ... surely into the first decadeof the new millennium at least. The first enthusiasm about the open borders and initial stimulating economic indicators of East-West European trade, that have marked the first few years in the 90ies, have faded away. Oppressive economic reality based on a severe competition pattern represents athreat that Eastern European economies will always be considered as a weaker partner in international business relations and in this way it will be difficult for them to achieve their long-term development objectives to catch-up with the pace of development of the Western countries. However, globalisation of economy and new patterns of production organisation on the global scale (the transition towards post-fordism) allow more active and efective inclusion of the Eastern European firms into the international business relations, introducing a variety of forms of business partnerships on the sub-state level. Transparent is a clear shift from traditional international trade relations towards more or less contracting business relations among firms on the sub-state level. Recognition of new forms of partnership and their introduction into the East-West economic relations is essential. Consequently, the aim of this paper is to examine some new ways and means of economic international co-operation which imply co-operation sa s partenrship process rather tha economic subordination of the weaker partners, which in the longer-term perspective necessarily leads towards greater differences and consequently instability of the European continent.
