    The behaviour of differently heat-treated steels PROKRON 3 in 0,1 M H2SO4 was studied using the classical potentiodynamic method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Steels were quenched on ... air, quenched in oil and quenched in oil and tempered. On the base of the potentiodynamic curves the constant potentials have been chosen at which the typical processes on the metal surface occur: dissolving at the active peak, beginning of the passivation with adsorbed intermediates and passivation. At these potentials the impedance measurements were made. Equivalent circuits which correspond to the nature of corrosion systems were combined and the values of the componentsin the circuit were varied until the computer generated plots closely matched the experimental data. Two models for an adsorbed intermediate in the active - passive region were usedČ the Armstrong 18 model and a new KPAI model with the modified circuit, which experimental data were fitted by the ZView 21 software package. For the new modified circuit the mathematical equations were developed and also computer simulated. An equivalent circuit for the passive region was also combined and calculated. All these mathematical calculations set up on the base of models and equivalent circuits closely matched the experimental data, so the parameters characteristic of given corrosion process were defined. On the base of calculated parameters the comparison between the steel samples were made and their corrosion characteristics were explained.
