    The task emergency medical service (EMS) on primary level is to treat emergencies with an appropriate intervention i.e. with the arrival of EMS teamto the scene of emergency, and the treatment on the ... spot and during transfer to an adequate health institution. EMS is an exacting and intensive activity where the contribution of the whole team of performers of various skills and professions is important. The organization of work represents a crucial and often weakest part of EMS. The quality of EMS can be evaluated by the judgement of performing health institution and of qualification of an individual, by evaluating the quality of the performed work, by measuring the satisd their health conty. The principle of EMS is to timely perform necessaryintervention withuate means and qualified staff in an organized way and with the use of up-to-date knowledge. Timeliness is evaluated by measuringof average response time, intervention time, time of activeness of the EMS team, number of interventions, number of paralel interventions and activeness of an individual team. The adequancy of equipment and vehicles is checked by the judgement of performing institution, of qualification of individual performers and by the judgement of the organization of EMS and the quality system. The use of up-to-date knowledge is judged on the basis of recomendations and protocols used by a certain EMS at its work. The number of interventions on 1000 inhabitants per year, the share of so called unnecessary interventions and the share of reanimations show the quality of work of EMS. The mentiodet data, mainly showing the indicators of EMS performing and treatment procedures, can be at time mediated to the lay and professional public by the organizer of EMS.
