  • Padci = Falls
    Damjan, Hermina
Although accidents are unexpected and felt by many to be due to chance, they are not totaly random events. In large part they are predictable and preventable. numerous biologic, environmental and ... life-style factors are recognisable risk factors for accident and injury and as such the basis for prevention (1). Accidents are one of the most common reasons for injuries in the period of childhood. They are the main reason for hospitalisation and medical care. Many times they lead to a serious disability and even death. Statistic analyses show that in all periods of life, falls(2) are on the second place on the list of accidents regarding frequency. 67% children are injured in their home or near home environment(2). Falls are even more common reason for injuries in the first six years of life than later. Being aware of reasons for the accidents, the possibility of prevention activity can be planned (2).
