    Injuries are an important public health problem for people, aged above 64 years, as they stonrgly affect the individual and contribute to big economic expenditures for the society. Slovenian ... population is ageing, therefore we canjustifiably expect an increase in the number of injuries and their consequences for elderly people. In Slovenia data show that people above 64 years of age are mostly threatened by injuries due to falls, and injuries in traffic accidents. Ethiology of non-intentional injuries in aged people is usually the combination of interior factors of the individual, and external factors such as social conditions, behaviour and environmental risks. Experiences show that the majority of aged people injuries can be anticipated and some non-intentional injuries even prevented with strategies directed intothe improvement of elderly people health state, recreation, health education on risk factors, prevention of injuries and elimination of environmental risk factors.
