    With this article we want to stimulate the foundation of Universities for the third age in many Slovene towns, where individuals are eager to have the possibility for participating in learning in ... study groups. For the start, it is enough to gather few individuals, who really wants to realize the possibility of learning in their own living environment. Everything else couldbe solved gradually with iniciativity and inventivity of individuals. With a friendly co-operation and experience of universities for the third agethat already exists in Slovenia and with the support of local community, the activity may start to live both in voluntary or academic society. We shallsupport the upper thesis with the example of foundation and activities ofUniversity for the third age in Velenje that is active for thirteen years under the Adult Education Society Velenje. In the same time we shall show by the example that the University for the third age differs from usual organizations for the education of adulsand argument the need forspecific organization of forms, methods andmodes of learning of people in third age.
