  • Hiperkalcemija pri kronični limfocitni levkemiji = Hypercalcaemia in chronic lymphocytic leukemia
    Glaser, Marjana
Background. Hypercalcaemia is common in some lymphoproliferative diseases like myeloma and T cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (T KLL). In patients with B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B KLL) ... hypercalcaemia is described in only few patients. Our patients. We represent two patients with B KLL and hypercalcaemia. Conclusions. Hypercalcaemia is a rare complication of B KLL. Pathophysiologically it is attributed to the reaction between leukemia cells and osteoblasts. Malignant cells secrete local cytokines which stimulate osteoclasts. As a result, bone resorptions and hypercalcaemia appear. Rehidration and bisphosphonates normalise the calcium level, but have no influence on progress of the disease.
