We discuss the perspectives of testing the right-handed Majorana mass scale MR of the SUSY see-saw model in the mSUGRA framework. Lepton-flavor violating low energy processes are analyzed in recently ...proposed post-LEP benchmark scenarios, taking into account present uncertainties and future developments in the neutrino sector. Non-observation of \(\mu \rightarrow e \gamma\) in the next-generation PSI experiment will provide upper bounds on MR of the order of \(10^{12\div 14}\) GeV, while on the other hand, a positive signal for \(\tau \rightarrow \mu \gamma\) at SUPERKEKB or the LHC may determine MR for a given mSUGRA scenario with an accuracy of a factor of 2.

Linear Collider (ILC) will be complementary in many respects, as has been demonstrated at previous generations of hadron and ...lepton colliders. This report addresses the possible interplay between the LHC and ILC in testing the Standard Model and in discovering and determining the origin of new physics. Mutual benefits for the physics programme at both machines can occur both at the level of a combined interpretation of Hadron Collider and Linear Collider data and at the level of combined analyses of the data, where results obtained at one machine can directly influence the way analyses are carried out at the other machine. Topics under study comprise the physics of weak and strong electroweak symmetry breaking, supersymmetric models, new gauge theories, models with extra dimensions, and electroweak and QCD precision physics. The status of the work that has been carried out within the LHC/ILC Study Group so far is summarized in this report. Possible topics for future studies are outlined.
Objective The primary outcome was sphincter preservation. No benefit was found with chemoradiation. The aim of this report is to analyse postoperative complications, which were the secondary ...outcome.
Material and methods Patients with resectable T3–4 low rectal carcinoma were randomised to receive either pre‐operative 5 × 5 Gy irradiation with subsequent total mesorectal excision (TME) performed within 7 days or chemoradiation (50.4 Gy, 1.8 Gy per fraction plus bolus 5‐fluorouracil and leucovorin) followed by TME after 4–6 weeks.
Results Three hundred and five patients (153 in 5 × 5 Gy group and 152 in chemoradiation group) were analysed. The rates of patients with postoperative complications for the 5 × 5 Gy group and for the chemoradiation group were 27 vs 21%, respectively (P = 0.27). If the values were expressed in terms of number of complications, the rates were 31 vs 22%, respectively (P = 0.06). The corresponding values for severe complications were 10 vs 11% (P = 0.85) of patients with complications and 12 vs 11% (P = 0.85) of events.
Conclusion The study did not demonstrate a statistically significant difference in the rate of postoperative complications after short‐course pre‐operative radiotherapy compared with full course chemoradiation.
Neutrino oscillations give clear evidence for non-vanishing neutrino masses and lepton-flavor violation (LFV) in the neutrino sector. This provides strong motivation to search for signals of LFV also ...in the charged lepton sector, and to probe the SUSY see-saw mechanism. Phys.Rev.D73:033004,2006 We study the constraints on a minimal supersymmetric seesaw model imposed by
neutrino data, charged lepton flavor violation, thermal leptogenesis and
perturbativity. We show ...that it is possible to constrain the three heavy
Majorana neutrino masses as well as the complex Yukawa coupling matrix. Our
results provide a first step towards a seesaw benchmark model for further
phenomenological studies and model building.
SpringerProc.Phys.98:27-38,2005 We present an update of previous work on charged lepton flavor violation
(LFV) in the seesaw model. The most recent neutrino data fits and post WMAP
mSUGRA benchmark ...scenarios are used as input. In this framework we compare the
sensitivity of rare radiative decays on the right-handed Majorana mass scale
M_R with the reach in slepton-pair production at a future linear collider.
In supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model, the Yukawa and/or mass
terms of the heavy neutrinos can generate lepton flavour violating slepton mass
terms. These new supersymmetric sources of ...lepton flavour violation may both
enhance the rates of charged lepton flavour violating processes, l_a -> l_b y,
and generate distinct final states, like l_b l_a + jets + missing E_T, at
future colliders. First, we discuss the sensitivity of future e^+e^- colliders
to the SLFV independently of the lepton flavour violating mechanism. Second, we
study lepton flavour violating slepton pair production and decay at a future
e^+e^- linear collider in the context of the seesaw mechanism in mSUGRA
post-LEP benchmark scenarios. We investigate the correlations of these signals
with the corresponding lepton flavour violating rare decays l_a -> l_b y, and
show that these correlations are particularly suited for probing the origin of
lepton flavour violation.
