This review paper presents a comprehensive and full review of the so-called optimization algorithm, multi-verse optimizer algorithm (MOA), and reviews its main characteristics and procedures. This ...optimizer is a kind of the most recent powerful nature-inspired meta-heuristic algorithms, where it has been successfully implemented and utilized in several optimization problems in a variety of several fields, which are covered in this context, such as benchmark test functions, machine learning applications, engineering applications, network applications, parameters control, and other applications of MOA. This paper covers all the available publications that have been used MOA in its application, which are published in the literature including the variants of MOA such as binary, modifications, hybridizations, chaotic, and multi-objective. Followed by its applications, the assessment and evaluation, and finally the conclusions, which interested in the current works on the optimization algorithm, recommend potential future research directions.

The central cloud facilities based on virtual machines offer many benefits to reduce the scheduling costs and improve service availability and accessibility. The approach of cloud computing is ...practical due to the combination of security features and online services. In the tasks transfer, the source and target domains have differing feature spaces. This challenge becomes more complicated in network traffic, which leads to data transfer delay, and some critical tasks could not deliver at the right time. This paper proposes an efficient optimization method for task scheduling based on a hybrid multi-verse optimizer with a genetic algorithm called MVO-GA. The proposed MVO-GA is proposed to enhance the performance of tasks transfer via the cloud network based on cloud resources' workload. It is necessary to provide adequate transfer decisions to reschedule the transfer tasks based on the gathered tasks' efficiency weight in the cloud. The proposed method (MVO-GA) works on multiple properties of cloud resources: speed, capacity, task size, number of tasks, number of virtual machines, and throughput. The proposed method successfully optimizes the task scheduling of a large number of tasks (i.e., 1000–2000). The proposed MVO-GA got promising results in optimizing the large cloud tasks' transfer time, which reflects its effectiveness. The proposed method is evaluated based on using the simulation environment of the cloud using MATLAB distrusted system.

The principal motivation of the marine predators algorithm (MPA) is the common foraging technique, including Lévy and Brownian motions in ocean predators coupled with optimal contact intensity policy ...in predator–prey biological interaction. This paper proposes an improved marine predators algorithm (IMPA), which is an extension of the original MPA. The suggested improvements lead to rapid convergence and avoid local minima stagnation for the original MPA. IMPA controls the active and reactive power injected into distribution systems to minimize the total system losses and the total voltage deviations and maximize the voltage stability and improve the distribution system's overall performance. On the one hand, the proposed IMPA determines the optimal location and active power (location and size, respectively) of distributed generation (DG). On the other hand, the IMPA controls reactive power by optimally placing and sizing the shunt capacitors (SCs) and determining the PF of DGs. Two standard test systems, 69-bus and 118-bus distribution networks, are considered to prove the proposed algorithm’s efficiency and scalability. Results of the proposed IMPA are compared with those obtained by MPA, AEO, and PSO algorithms. The findings of the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed IMPA can effectively find the optimal problem solutions and beats the other algorithms. Moreover, the framework of multi-objective IMPA outperforms based on MPA in terms of the performance measures of diversity, spacing, coverage, and hypervolume.
This paper proposes a novel nature-inspired meta-heuristic optimizer, called Reptile Search Algorithm (RSA), motivated by the hunting behaviour of Crocodiles. Two main steps of Crocodile behaviour ...are implemented, such as encircling, which is performed by high walking or belly walking, and hunting, which is performed by hunting coordination or hunting cooperation. The mentioned search methods of the proposed RSA are unique compared to other existing algorithms. The performance of the proposed RSA is evaluated using twenty-three classical test functions, thirty CEC2017 test functions, ten CEC2019 test functions, and seven real-world engineering problems. The obtained results of the proposed RSA are compared to various existing optimization algorithms in the literature. The results of the tested three benchmark functions revealed that the proposed RSA achieved better results than the other competitive optimization algorithms. The results of the Friedman ranking test proved that the RSA is a significantly superior method than other comparative methods. Finally, the results of the examined engineering problems showed that the RSA obtained better results compared to other various methods. Harris hawks optimizer (HHO) has received widespread attention among researchers in terms of the performance, quality of results, and its acceptable convergence in dealing with different applications ...in real-world problems. This increased interest led to the emergence of many versions of HHO applied to various optimization problems in different fields. Therefore, this study aims to identify, retrieve, summarize, and analyze the critical studies related to the development of HHO. For this aim, we applied a review methodology. The applied methodology led to identified and selection of 69 related studies from different electronic sources. The review result revealed that although HHO algorithm is still in the infant stage, its superiority over several well-established metaheuristic algorithms in terms of speed and accuracy for addressing various benchmark problems and tackling several real-world optimization problems has been clearly observed. The HHO algorithm was evaluated, and its strengths and weaknesses were discussed. This review not only suggested possible future directions in this domain but also serves as a comprehensive source of information about HHO and HHO variants for future researchers due to the inclusion of charts and tabular comparison across a wide variety of attributes. Nature computing has evolved with exciting performance to solve complex real-world combinatorial optimization problems. These problems span across engineering, medical sciences, and sciences ...generally. The Ebola virus has a propagation strategy that allows individuals in a population to move among susceptible, infected, quarantined, hospitalized, recovered, and dead sub-population groups. Motivated by the effectiveness of this strategy of propagation of the disease, a new bio-inspired and population-based optimization algorithm is proposed. This study presents a novel metaheuristic algorithm named Ebola Optimization Search Algorithm (EOSA) based on the propagation mechanism of the Ebola virus disease. First, we designed an improved SIR model of the disease, namely SEIR-HVQD: Susceptible (S), Exposed (E), Infected (I), Recovered (R), Hospitalized (H), Vaccinated (V), Quarantine (Q), and Death or Dead (D). Secondly, we represented the new model using a mathematical model based on a system of first-order differential equations. A combination of the propagation and mathematical models was adapted for developing the new metaheuristic algorithm. To evaluate the performance and capability of the proposed method in comparison with other optimization methods, two sets of benchmark functions consisting of forty-seven (47) classical and thirty (30) constrained IEEE-CEC benchmark functions were investigated. The results indicate that the performance of the proposed algorithm is competitive with other state-of-the-art optimization methods based on scalability, convergence, and sensitivity analyses. Extensive simulation results show that the EOSA outperforms popular metaheuristic algorithms such as the Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (ABC). Also, the algorithm was applied to address the complex problem of selecting the best combination of convolutional neural network (CNN) hyperparameters in the image classification of digital mammography. Results obtained showed the optimized CNN architecture successfully detected breast cancer from digital images at an accuracy of 96.0%. ALO is a novel metaheuristic swarm-based approach introduced by Mirjalili in 2015 to emulate the hunting behavior of ...ant lions in nature life. The review is highlighted the applications that are utilized ALO algorithm to solve various optimization problems. In ALO, the best solution is determined to enhance the performance of the functional and efficient during the optimization process by finding the minimum or maximum values to solve a certain problem. Metaheuristic algorithms have become the focus of research due to introduce of decision-making and asses the benefits in solving various optimization problems. Also, a review of ALO variants is presented in this paper such as binary, modification, hybridization, enhanced, and others. The classifications of the ALO’s applications include the benchmark functions, machine learning applications, networks applications, engineering applications, software engineering, and Image processing. Finally, According to the reviewed papers published in the literature, the ALO algorithm is mostly utilized in solving various optimization problems. Presenting an overview and reviewing the ALO applications are the main aims of this review paper.
