Pressure fluctuations were measured in a fluidized bed plenum and power spectral density functions obtained by fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis of the pressure fluctuation and its confidence ...limit for the diagnosis of fluidization were investigated. Various species of fluidized beds, which consist of Groups A, B or D particles of Geldart's classification and their mixtures, were used. Species of fluidizing particles, weight fraction of particles in bed and bed height strongly influenced the mode of fluidization. They were also significantly reflected on the power spectral density function. From experimental results, it is concluded that frequency analysis of pressure fluctuation is useful to obtain information about fluidization and to diagnose the fluidized bed, while it has a limit for its ability for detection of the fluidization mode.
is a fixed target experiment working on the 920 GeV proton beam of the HERA accelerator at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg. During the last data taking period (2002-2003), about 150 million dilepton ...triggers, 220 million minimum bias events and 35 million hard photon triggers were acquired. These large statistics allow detailed studies on the production of charmonium states in proton-nucleus p-A collisions, which extend for the first time into the negative Feynman-x () region. Measurements of the inclusive , \(\Upsilon\) and open charm cross sections are also ongoing. After a brief discussion of the detector and of the data samples, we report on preliminary results obtained on these physics topics.
Aortic dissection is an infrequent but important cause of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), and must not be overlooked because of a possible worse outcome, especially with the use of an intravenous ...recombinant tissue plasminogen activator. We report a case of left carotid artery dissection and AIS originating from localized aortic arch dissection, pathologically caused by cystic medial necrosis in the tunica media.

LHCb is one of the experiments of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, dedicated to B-physics and CP-violation measurements. To fully exploit the physics potential, a good tracking performance with ...high efficiency in a high particle density environment close to the beam pipe is required. Silicon strip detectors with large read-out pitch and long strips will be used for the LHCb inner tracker after the magnet and the trigger tracker station in front of the magnet. We report here about the design of the silicon tracker, test beam results and the electrical tests foreseen during module production.
The LHCb Silicon Tracker will cover a sensitive surface of about

with silicon micro-strip detectors. The production of detector modules is currently coming close to its conclusion. In this ...paper, the design of the detector modules, the main module production steps, and the module quality assurance programme are described. Selected results from the quality assurance are shown and first lessons are drawn from the experience gained during module production.
This paper proposes an adaptive interaction between a human and a life-like agent. We present the method to estimate the partner's context with the nth order MDP model. In this framework, an agent ...plays a mind reading game with a user in which the agent estimates the user's current mind state by the previous game context. The online identification of the model for mind transition rules of a user using the mind transition sequence and its usage in the iterated mind reading game between a user and the agent. From the experimental results, the properties of the mind transition rules of a user used in the game are consistent, individual, almost deterministic and partial.
Serological tests for antibodies to syphilis, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes simplex virus, varicella, measles, and HIV were negative. Audiovestibular involvement is rare, although it has been reported ...in some cases.2,3 In neurosarcoidosis, loss of vestibular function can be of sudden onset or slowly progressive; it is frequently bilateral.3,4 Our patient's vesribulocochlear damage may have been caused by perivascular lymphocytic or granulomatous infiltration of the eighth cranial nerve, in association with sarcoid meningitis.
