Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between knowledge-hiding behaviors (evasive hiding, playing dumb and rationalized hiding) and employees’ silence (defensive silence, ...relational silence and ineffectual silence). Besides, this paper investigates the relation mediated by psychological contract breach.
Design/methodology/approach
The data were collected with three-time lags (40 days each) through a structured questionnaire from 389 employees of registered software houses in Pakistan. The structural equation modeling (partial least squares) approach is used for data analysis.
Findings
The findings of this study confirm that knowledge-hiding behaviors have a significant and positive relationship with employees’ silence, and psychological contract breach significantly mediates the relationship between knowledge-hiding behaviors and employees’ silence.
Practical implications
The implications of this study are very supportive to the knowledge-intensive organizations, i.e. software houses. The management should increase the knowledge sharing and trust culture among employees to discourage the knowledge-hiding behaviors among employees. Moreover, supervisors should develop trust among employees, motivate them to avoid knowledge hiding and encourage the employees to raise their voices against their problems in a formal way.
Originality/value
The present study highlights the impact of different dimensions of knowledge hiding on employees’ silence and the role of psychological contract breach as a mediator in this scenario.
The objective of present paper is to examine the peristaltic flow of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Jeffrey fluid saturating porous space in a channel through rotating frame. Unlike the previous attempts, ...the flow formulation is based upon modified Darcy's law porous medium effect in Jeffrey fluid situation. In addition the impacts due to Soret and Dufour effects in the radiative peristaltic flow are accounted. Rosseland's approximation has been utilized for the thermal radiative heat flux. Lubrication approach is implemented for the simplification. Resulting problems are solved for the stream function, temperature and concentration. Graphical results are prepared and analyzed for different parameters of interest entering into the problems.
This article investigates the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) three-dimensional flow of couple stress nanofluid subject to the convective boundary condition. Flow is generated due to a nonlinear stretching ...of the surface in two lateral directions. Temperature and nanoparticles concentration distributions are studied through the Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects. Couple stress fluid is considered electrically conducting through a non-uniform applied magnetic field. Mathematical formulation is developed via boundary layer approach. Nonlinear ordinary differential systems are constructed by employing suitable transformations. The resulting systems have been solved for the convergent series solutions of velocities, temperature and nanoparticles concentration profiles. Graphs are sketched to see the effects of different interesting flow parameters on the temperature and nanoparticles concentration distributions. Numerical values are computed to analyze the values of skin-friction coefficients and Nusselt number.
In this paper, a new four-variable dynamical system is proposed to set chaotic circuit composed of memristor and Josephson junction, and the dependence of chaotic behaviors on nonlinearity is ...investigated. A magnetic flux-controlled memristor is used to couple with the RCL-shunted junction circuit, and the dynamical behaviors can be modulated by changing the coupling intensity between the memristor and the RCL-shunted junction. Bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponent are calculated to confirm the emergence of chaos in the improved dynamical system. The outputs and dynamical behaviors can be controlled by the initial setting and external stimulus as well. As a result, chaos can be suppressed and spiking occurs in the sampled outputs under negative feedback, while applying positive feedback type via memristor can be effective to trigger chaos. Furthermore, it is found that the number of multi-attractors in the Jerk circuit can be modulated when memristor coupling is applied on the circuit. These results indicate that memristor coupling can be effective to control chaotic circuits and it is also useful to reproduce dynamical behaviors for neuronal activities.

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of green transformational leadership (TL) that influences green product and process innovation. More specifically, drawing together from leadership ...and capability-based view, the present study views green dynamic capabilities (GDCs) as an important underlying mediating mechanism through which green TL prompts green innovation. It also examines the moderating role of environmental dynamism between green TL and GDCs. Data were collected from manufacturing SMEs using the convenience sampling technique at two points in time. PLS-SEM was utilised to perform the analysis. The results demonstrate that green TL has a significant direct and positive association with green product and process innovation. The results also show a positive effect of green TL on GDCs, and GDCs in turn promote green innovation. Furthermore, these findings suggest that environmental dynamism plays moderating role in the relationship between green TL and GDCs, which implies that green TL is more effective in determining GDCs under high environmental dynamism. The study contributes to theoretical and practical knowledge by elucidating the relationships among green TL and green product and process innovation, underscoring areas of managerial development that can affect sustainable product and process innovation, specifically in manufacturing SMEs industry.
Background and aims
Diabetes patients have a higher risk of urinary tract infection (UTI). The present study was aimed at determining the clinical profile, microbial pattern, antibiotic sensitivity, ...and follow-up of UTI in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Materials and methods
Two hundred consecutive T2D patients admitted with a diagnosis of UTI were selected for this study. Midstream urine specimens were collected and the culture tests were done by a quantitative method; antimicrobial sensitivity was determined by using the Kirby-Bauer method. After discharge from the hospital, patients were followed for 6 months.
Results
Women (

=162) outnumbered men (
n
=38), with 76% being postmenopausal. Pyelonephritis was present in 44.5% (
n
=89) and emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) in 9.5% (
n
=19). Longer duration of diabetes, high body mass index, and prior UTI were risk factors for symptomatic UTI. Gram-negative bacilli were leading causes of UTI, with
E. coli
being the most common pathogen. Gram-negative pathogens were mostly sensitive to amikacin, imipenem, and piperacillin/tazobactam. Around 40% patients had recurrent UTI. The presence of renal calculi, poor glycemic control, and chronic kidney disease were significant predictive factors for recurrence.
Conclusion
In patients with T2D, UTI was more common and severe in postmenopausal women. More than one-third of patients had a recurrence of UTI on follow-up for 6 months.
Carbazoles represent an important class of heterocycles. These have been reported to exhibit diverse biological activities such as antimicrobial, antitumor, antiepileptic, antihistaminic, ...antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antidiarrhoeal, analgesic, neuroprotective and pancreatic lipase inhibition properties. A series of carbazole derivatives such as N-substituted carbazoles, benzocarbazoles, furocarbazoles, pyrrolocarbazoles, indolocarbazoles, imidazocarbazoles, etc. have been synthesized. The N-substituted derivatives have gained the attention of researchers due to their therapeutic potential against neurological disorders and cell proliferation. Herein an attempt is made to review the medicinal importance of recently synthesized N-substituted carbazoles.
Kaempferol, a natural flavonoid present in several plants, possesses a wide range of therapeutic properties such as antioxidant, anticancer, and anti‐inflammatory. It has a significant role in ...reducing cancer and can act as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of diseases and ailments such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, oxidative stress, asthma, and microbial contamination disorders. Kaempferol acts through different mechanisms: It induces apoptosis (HeLa cervical cancer cells), decreases cell viability (G2/M phase), downregulates phosphoinositide 3‐kinase (PI3K)/AKT (protein kinase B) and human T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma virus‐I (HTLV‐I) signaling pathways, suppresses protein expression of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT)‐related markers including N‐cadherin, E‐cadherin, Slug, and Snail, and metastasis‐related markers such as matrix metallopeptidase 2 (MMP‐2). Accordingly, the aim of the present review is to collect information pertaining to the effective role of kaempferol against various degenerative disorders, summarize the antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, and antiaging effects of kaempferol and to review the progress of recent research and available data on kaempferol as a protective and chemotherapeutic agent against several ailments.
Purpose
Drawing on the socially embedded model of thriving and the idiosyncrasy credit model of leadership, this study aims to develop a moderated mediation model to investigate the roles that are ...thriving at work and leader competency play in the link between leader humility and creative service performance (CSP) of hospitality frontline service employees (FSEs).
Design/methodology/approach
To test the moderated mediation model, the authors applied a time-lagged research design and collected multi-source data from locally owned, star-rated hotels headquartered in the capital city of Pakistan. The authors collected the multi-source data at three different points in time from employees and their respective supervisors (N = 52 managers and their 312 immediate employees).
Findings
The results denote that leader humility positively impacts CSP, thriving at work mediates this impact and leader competency not only moderates the connection between leader humility and thriving at work but also magnifies the indirect association between leader humility and CSP via thriving at work.
Research limitations/implications
The moderated mediation framework based on the socially embedded model of thriving and the idiosyncrasy credit model of leadership will benefit future researchers and practitioners while exploring the impact of leader humility (LH) on FSEs’ CSP in the hospitality context.
Originality/value
The fundamental contribution of this study is developing and testing a research model that concentrates on the effects of leader humility on FSEs’ CSP. Moreover, by receiving support on the mediating role of thriving, this research further sheds light on how subordinates under the leader with humility demonstrate high CSP. In addition, the moderating role of leader competency found in this study further highlights that leader effectiveness depends on the degree to which employees perceive their leader as competent.
