Two new gamma spectrometer projects are under development, both with some challenging technical characteristics in common, one for the investigation of weakly bound nuclear beam reactions at near ...barrier energies, and the other for the measurement of double charge exchange reactions in the 15-70 MeV per nucleon range. The first one is being developed and tested at the IFUSP, and the other is going to be built and installed at the LNS, INFN, under the NUMEN collaboration. The main characteristics of the two projects are presented and discussed.
Coccoloba uvifera is a Mayan medicinal plant, and these leaves are used as antidiarrheal and diuretic agents. In the present work, we develop in-vitro, ex-vivo, in-vivo, and in-silico strategies to ...evaluate several aqueous extracts of C. uvifera leaves. In vitro tests showed that decoction extract (CuDe) presented the best yield and chlorophyll, phenol, and flavonoid content; however, CuDe showed low antioxidant activity (DPPH model). All aqueous extracts exert spasmolytic and vasorelaxant activity in a concentration-dependent manner (ex vivo), and in vivo tests showed that CuDe exerts the best antiperistaltic and diuretic effects. The in-silico analysis suggests that C. uvifera triterpenes act as a ligand of GPCR, and β-sitosterol could act as an antagonist of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor subtype 3 (m3AChR). In the context of aqueous extracts of C. uvifera, β-sitosterol and their heterosides were identified by FTIR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The concerted binding of β-sitosterol and other triterpenes within the m3AChR binding site may be relevant for the induction of relaxant effects at the gastrointestinal smooth muscle level. In this context, C. uvifera is a high-value plant species that requires analytical and pharmacological studies to confirm traditional medicinal use.

The half life of the 7− isomeric state of the odd-odd 68Ga nucleus was measured using a particle-γ delayed coincidence technique. The 68Ga nuclei were produced using the fusion-evaporation reaction ...55Mn(16O,2pn)68Ga at 55 MeV incident beam energy. The beam was produced by the 8 MV Pelletron accelerator of the Nuclear Physics Open Laboratory of the University of São Paulo. The half life was measured using the Isomeric State Measurement System (SISMEI). The obtained value was 60.83(25) ns, compatible with previous measurements. The 68Ga excited states were well described with the Large Scale Shell Model using the JUN45 residual interaction.
Plant-pollinator interaction networks can provide insights about the impacts of agricultural practices on biodiversity. However, studies on the agricultural impact on these networks most often focus ...on specific pollinator guilds (i.e., wild bees), hindering our understanding of the effects at the entire insect visitor community level. Here, we evaluated the impact of intensive agriculture and the moderation effects of landscape context on the topology of community-wide plant-visitor interaction networks (381 insect species). We also compared the responses of wild bee-based networks and community-wide plant-floral visitor networks to agricultural intensification to examine whether the former can be a good proxy of the latter. To this aim, we sampled plant-pollinator interaction networks in 24 paired olive farms with contrasting herb cover management (low-intensity management, where ground herb cover is not removed during the flowering season, and intensive management, with herbs persistently removed by herbicides and/or recurrent tillage) across a gradient of landscape complexity in Andalusia (Spain). Results show that the topology of whole floral visitor interaction networks was affected by the herb cover management and the landscape simplification. Furthermore, we found that the effects of the herb cover management were often moderated through the interaction with the landscape context at both floral stand and landscape scale. However, the landscape scale at which these interaction effects occurred varied with the network metric. Non-bee floral visitors were fundamentally redundant for the network topology. We concluded that the implementation of low-intensity management of ground covers in olive groves, together with the enhancement of the flower stands at the local level (e.g., floral strips) and the maintenance and/or restoration of semi-natural habitats at the large landscape scale, would be beneficial to the preservation of healthy and robust floral visitor communities. Our study further supports that wild-bee based interaction networks may adequately reflect the response of the entire networks of plant-floral visitor, at least in this study system.
•Low-intensity herb management is key to enhance pollinating insects in olive groves.•Intensive herb management affects the community-wide plant-floral visitor networks.•The landscape context moderates how herb management affects the network properties.•Monitoring wild bees only suffices to assess changes in floral visitor community.
En este trabajo se diseñó e implementó un Analizador de Energía Eléctrica Trifásico basado en la aplicación de la Red Adaline para descomponer las tensiones e intensidades de cada fase en sus ...armónicos. Para sensar las tensiones se usaron transformadores de pequeña potencia y circuitos con amplificadores Operacionales. Para el sensado de las intensidades se usaron bobinas Rogowski, más una etapa subsiguiente con circuito acondicionador de la señal el cual realiza la doble función de amplificación-integración, y que necesita de un ajuste cuidadoso de los componentes para no distorsionar las señales sensadas. Las señales son procesadas por un microcontrolador de bajo costo AtMega 328P optimizando los recursos en la programación de la red Adaline. Las fórmulas para la medida de las magnitudes trifásicas y por fase se basaron en el Estándar IEEE 1459. Finalmente se probó el desempeño del analizador propuesto en una medida realizada en un tablero industrial de tres conductores accesibles, y se contrastaron sus valores con las de una pinza amperimétrica Fluke 375. Los resultados muestran el correcto funcionamiento del analizador y la buena precisión y exactitud de las medidas de valores eficaces de tensiones, intensidades y sus armónicos.
