(ProQuest: ... denotes formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted) We report new measurements of the total cross sections for e super(+)e super(-) arrow right Upsilon(n S)pi super(+)pi super(-)(n=1, 2, ...3) and e super(+)e super(-) arrow right bb from a high-luminosity fine scan of the region sradical=10.63-11.05GeV with the Belle detector. We observe that the Upsilon(nS)pi super(+)pi super(-) spectra have little or no nonresonant component and extract from them the masses and widths of Upsilon(10860) and Upsilon(11020) and their relative phase. We find ...MeV/c super(2) and ...MeV and report first measurements ...MeV/c super(2), ...MeV, and ...rad.
We present a measurement of the branching fraction and the longitudinal polarization fraction of B super(0) arrow right rho super(+)rho super(-) decays, as well as the time-dependent CP violating ...parameters in decays into longitudinally polarized rho super(+)rho super(-) pairs with Belle's final data set of 772x10 super(6)BB pairs, at the Gamma(4S) resonance, collected at the asymmetric-energy e super(+)e super(-) collider KEKB. We obtain Bernoulli(B super(0) arrow right rho super(+)rho super(-))=(28.3+ or -1.5(stat)+ or -1.5(syst))x10 super(-6), functionof sub(L)= 0.988+ or -0.012(stat)+ or -0.023(syst) , scriptA sub(CP)=0.00+ or -0.10(stat)+ or -0.06(syst), scriptS sub(CP)=?0.13+ or -0.15(stat)+ or -0.05(syst). We perform an isospin analysis to constrain the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle varphi sub(2) and obtain two solutions with varphi sub(2)=(93.7+ or -10.6)degrees , being most compatible with other Standard-Model based fits to the data.
We search for the process B super(0) arrow right pi super(-)tau super(+)nu sub(tau) using the full Belle data set of 711fb super(-1), corresponding to 772x10 super(6)BB pairs, collected at the ...Gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e super(+)e super(-) collider. We reconstruct one B meson in a hadronic decay and search for the B super(0) arrow right pi super(-)tau super(+)nu sub(tau) process in the remainder of the event. No significant signal is observed and an upper limit of Bernoulli(B super(0) arrow right pi super(-)tau super(+) nu super(tau))<2.5x10 super(-4) is obtained at the 90% confidence level.
We report inclusive and exclusive measurements for chi sub(c 1) and chi sub(c 2) production in B decays. We measure Bernoulli(B arrowright chi sub(c 1)X)=(3.03+ or -0.05(stat)+ or -0.24(syst))x10 ...super(-3) and Bernoulli(B arrowright chi sub(c 2)X)=(0.70+ or -0.06(stat)+ or -0.10(syst))x10 super(?3). For the first time, chi sub(c 2) production in exclusive B decays in the modes B super(0) arrowright chi sub(c 2)pi super(-)K super(+) and B super(+) arrowright chi sub(c 2)pi super(+)pi super(-)K super(+) has been observed, along with first evidence for the B super(+) arrowright (ProQuest: Formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted) decay mode. For chi sub(c 1) production, we report the first observation in the B super(+) arrowright chi sub(c 1)pi super(+)pi super(-)K super(+), B super(0) arrowright (ProQuest: Formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted) and B super(0) arrowright chi sub(c 1)pi super(0)pi super(-)K super(+) decay modes. Using these decay modes, we observe a difference in the production mechanism of chi sub(c 2) in comparison to chi sub(c 1) in B decays. In addition, we report searches for X(3872) and chi sub(c 1)(2P) in the B super(+) arrowright (chi sub(c 1)pi super(+)pi super(?))K super(+) decay mode. The reported results use 772x10 super(6)BB events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e super(+)e super(-) collider.
We report a measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of B0->D(*)CP h0 decays, where the light neutral hadron h0 is a pi0, eta or omega meson, and the neutral D meson is reconstructed in the CP ...eigenstates K+ K-, K0S pi0 or K0S omega. The measurement is performed combining the final data samples collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the BaBar and Belle experiments at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. The data samples contain ( 471 +/- 3 ) x 10^6 BB pairs recorded by the BaBar detector and ( 772 +/- 11 ) x 10^6, BB pairs recorded by the Belle detector. We measure the CP asymmetry parameters -eta_f S = +0.66 +/- 0.10 (stat.) +/- 0.06 (syst.) and C = -0.02 +/- 0.07 (stat.) +/- 0.03 (syst.). These results correspond to the first observation of CP violation in B0->D(*)CP h0 decays. The hypothesis of no mixing-induced CP violation is excluded in these decays at the level of 5.4 standard deviations.
The suppressed decay chain B{sup -}{yields}DK{sup -}, D{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, where D indicates a D{sup 0} or D{sup 0} state, provides important information on the CP-violating angle {phi}{sub ...3}. We measure the ratio R{sub DK} of the decay rates to the favored mode B{sup -}{yields}DK{sup -}, D{yields}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +} to be R{sub DK}=1.63{sub -0.41}{sup +0.44}(stat){sub -0.13}{sup +0.07}(syst)x10{sup -2}, which indicates the first evidence of the signal with a significance of 4.1{sigma}. We also measure the asymmetry A{sub DK} between the charge-conjugate decays to be A{sub DK}=-0.39{sub -0.28}{sup +0.26}(stat){sub -0.03}{sup +0.04}(syst). The results are based on the full 772x10{sup 6} BB pair data sample collected at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector.
