We are approaching in this work to the first literacy schools which have existed in Tarifa during the XIX Century. Education in this town looked loss-making in the facilities due to several factors. ...On one hand, the negative repercussion that had the Independence War in the population’s life and the misery that it left, especially in the most popular sectors. On the other hand, it was due to the fact of the abandon of this education service. The first Spanish liberal governments tried to put order in this situation and, thus, it got rid of the Council archives from the Liberal Triennium but it is principally during the reign of Isabel II of Spain in the “Ley Moyano” (Moyano Educational Law) when some references about a bigger normalization of these schools appeared in the Council archives. It spread in the decade of 1860 to the districts. The school located in the ancient granary is the architectonical reference since middle 1800’s.
This study examines the conception of heritage—holistic or traditional—among future early-childhood and primary teachers. In order to do this, our objective was to analyze trainee teachers’ ...perceptions surrounding the conception of heritage. To carry out the analysis, we designed and validated a questionnaire with closed-ended questions (Likert scale 1–5) and one open-ended question about the elements that respondents considered to be part of what we define as heritage. The participants (n = 602) study at the universities of Alicante, Murcia, and Córdoba, and the investigation took place during 2018/19 and 2019/20 academic years. The results show a traditional conception that is still attached to immovable monumental heritage, with lower scores for intangible and natural heritage. However, there were some high scores for traditions and popular festivals, which are a frequent educational resource in early-childhood and primary classrooms. In conclusion, this non-holistic conception of heritage could be changed if an active and varied use of heritage resources were introduced from the early stages of education.
Abstract Defective epigenetic regulation has been postulated as a possible cause for the extensive and premature transcriptional dysregulation observed in experimental models of Huntington's disease ...(HD). In this study, we extended our observations in the N171-82Q mouse strain relating to the limited impact of polyQ pathology on the global histone acetylation to other animal and cellular models of HD, namely the R6/1 and YAC128 strains, striatal-electroporated mice, primary neuronal cultures and stably transfected PC12 cells. In the absence of bulk chromatin changes, we nonetheless documented histone deacetylation events at the transcription start sites (TSS) of genes relevant to neuronal functions (e.g., Rin1 , Plk5 , Igfbp5 , Eomes , and Fos ). In some instances, these local deficits were associated with an increased susceptibility to transcriptional dysregulation (e.g., Camk1g and Rasl11b ) and the defective trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 4 (H3K4me3), another covalent modification of histone tails that is related to active transcription and is also altered in HD. Overall, this study provides further insight into the nature and extent of epigenetic dysregulation in HD pathology.
In the context of virtual teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, a gap emerged between students and teachers due to social distancing measures. This gap hindered the flow of information about the ...teaching-learning process, making it difficult for authorities to make informed decisions to improve student satisfaction and teaching performance. In this context, the widespread use of mobile applications, through which students express their opinions on the conditions of their learning sessions, is significant. In this sense, the objective of this paper is to apply voice analytics to identify the factors that contribute to the lowest level of student satisfaction in teacher performance using WhatsApp audio messaging. The study has a quantitative approach, an exploratory-descriptive level, and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 33 students. It was determined that the factor with the lowest level of satisfaction is the dimension “class session administration,” with a percentage of 57.58%, which is significantly lower than the satisfaction levels of the other factors analyzed, which are above 90%. Therefore, it is concluded that in addition to using rubrics to evaluate teacher performance in adhering to lesson plans and class sessions, the authorities should also implement regulations that support the use of voice analytics through mobile applications like WhatsApp. This will provide insights from students, who are direct participants in the teaching process, regarding their perception of teaching performance.
The COVID-19 pandemic led to a significant shift towards more innovative teaching methods, highlighting the need for continuous and flexible learning approaches. Thus, it is relevant to explore the ...casuistry of the various applications of microlearning and nanolearning in higher education, and identify the thematic trends and topics little explored in the pandemic and post-pandemic scenario. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to carry out a bibliometric review under a quantitative approach and at an exploratory-descriptive level, on the existing literature in the Scopus database. As a result, it was possible to identify that the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced scientific production in the application of microlearning in higher education to a greater extent with respect to nanolearning. Furthermore, the prevalent themes identified in the existing literature are the effectiveness and adaptation of microlearning in different areas of higher education, such as medicine and engineering, the development of competencies and skills through microlearning in university students and the evaluation of the impact of innovative teaching strategies such as microlearning in higher education. Therefore, it is concluded that, in the current post-pandemic context, a clear focus on the application, integration and evaluation of the impact of microlearning in higher education prevails; however, a significant gap is identified in the adoption of nanolearning, which is in an emerging phase of development.
The state of emergency declared in many countries due to the pandemic led universities to consider the incursion of technological tools to give continuity to the teaching and learning process; ...therefore it is significant to explore results regarding the application of augmented reality (AR) in education. The objective of the research is to generate knowledge from the systematic review of the literature framed in the context of virtual teaching in the midst of COVID-19. A bibliographic review was carried out under a mixed approach, exploratory and descriptive level. The findings showed that the application of AR in learning is not exclusive to any engineering specialty, but, on the contrary, it is versatile and adapts to various curricular contents; Also, the way in which augmented reality is applied is more focused on the use of mobile augmented reality (mobile AR) technology with markerless activation. In addition, it was identified that the factors that were analysed to demonstrate the contribution of AR were: the effectiveness of learning, the predisposition to use AR and the motivation generated by AR. With which it can be concluded that AR in this context has managed to position itself as a learning resource that goes beyond a tool linked to a virtual classroom, since it allows the student to transcend towards immersion in environments with high contextual fidelity. Future research should address which factors influence the improvement of mobile AR activation sensitivity, in different contexts.
At the convergence of artificial intelligence with pedagogy, digital twin technology is emerging as a tool that offers advanced simulations and interactive learning environments. This is because ...digital twins make it possible to replicate virtually any piece of equipment or test items in a laboratory. Based on the above, the objective of this article is to explore thematic gaps regarding the use of digital twin technology in the teaching-learning process. For this reason, a bibliometric review study is developed taking as data publications indexed in Scopus, during the years 2018 to 2023. Through the search equation, 92 publications were extracted. The study was developed under a quantitative approach at an exploratory-descriptive level. The results demonstrated that there is a growing and sustained scientific production on the topic under study, showing that, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, there was greater production compared to other years. Furthermore, although it was identified that this technology is applicable to different specialties of higher education, it was determined that, to a greater extent, the topics discussed are engineering education assisted by digital twins, virtual reality and digital twins for engineering training and simulation-based training through digital twins. However, it is concluded that there is an unaddressed gap regarding the rules and regulations that should govern the use of digital twins in higher education as well as what the teacher's competencies should be so as to guarantee the appropriate use of digital twins as part of their teaching methodology, since the impact on student learning depends on this.
The flipped classroom as a teaching strategy implies a change in the traditional class dynamics; however, in recent years the use of metaverses has been incorporated in the development of flipped ...classrooms, seeking to provide a more immersive and interactive environment for the student. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and identify the existing gaps in the scientific production that investigate the inclusion of metaverses in university education. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to examine and present currents of study related to the integration of metaverses in the development of the flipped classroom, in university environments, using bibliometric analysis regarding academic works indexed in the Scopus database, between 2013 and 2023. The results obtained show a constant growth in scientific production. This increase is influenced by the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the search for more immersive and effective solutions in virtual education. The predominant thematic areas focus specifically on the use of virtual reality and augmented reality as key elements for the design and construction of metaverses, which, combined with gamification techniques, lead to the development of flipped and immersive classrooms. In this sense, based on the identified results, it is concluded that there is a gap in the research corpus that needs to be addressed in terms of guidelines and good practices for the effective integration of metaverses in flipped classrooms.
