The TOTEM collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider, together with the D0 collaboration at the Tevatron collider at Fermilab, have announced the discovery of the odderon – a bound state of three ...gluons that was predicted about 50 years ago. The result was presented at CERN on March 5 and follows the joint submission in December 2020 of a CERN and Fermilab preprints by TOTEM and D0 reporting this observation. States comprising several gluons are usually called “glueballs”, and are peculiar objects made only of the carriers of the strong force. The advent of quantum chromodynamics led theorists to predict the existence of the odderon, C-odd gluonic compound. Proving its existence in high-energy collisions at Tevatron and LHC has been a major experimental challenge. The work is based on a model-independent analysis of data at medium-range momentum transfer. The TOTEM and D0 teams compared proton-proton data (recorded at collision energies of 2.76, 7, 8, and 13 TeV and extrapolated to 1.96 TeV), with Tevatron proton-antiproton data measured at 1.96 TeV. In agreement with theoretical predictions, the proton-proton cross-section exhibits a deeper dip and stays below the proton-antiproton cross-section until the bump region, thus evidence of odderon was found.
This paper presents the results of the simulation experiment performed in Lira-SAPR. The purpose of the experiment is modal analysis of various structural schemes of the high-rise reinforced concrete ...frame under pulsation and earthquake action. Calculations have been made for three series of samples, differing in the stiffness ratio of the frame and diaphragm of the scheme (from 20% to 65.9%), considering seismic rating of 7, 8 and 9 magnitude and subsoils of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd categories of seismic activity. It has been established, that the ratio of stiffness influences the distribution of the modal mass. The acceleration of the cover nodes does not depend on the stiffness ratio – they grow as seismic activity of the site increases. Stiffness ratio influences the total reinforcement requirement. This influence is significant in the range of ratio values from 20.5% to 42.5%. Further increase in the stiffness ratio has little influence on the reinforcement requirement.
The open charm and beauty production cross-sections in the deep inelastic ep scattering (DIS) at HERA from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations are combined. Reduced cross-sections are obtained in the ...kinematic range of negative four-momentum transfer squared of a photon 2.5≤ Q2 ≤2000 GeV2 and the Bjorken scaling variable 3×10¬5 ≤ xBj ≤5×10¬2. The different charm- and beauty-tagging methods are used for the heavy-flavor production study in DIS. The combined method accounts for the correlations of systematic uncertainties, as well as statistical uncertainties among the different datasets. Perturbative QCD (pQCD) calculations are compared to the measured combined data. A NLO QCD analysis is performed using these data together with the combined inclusive deep inelastic scattering cross-sections from HERA. The running charm- and beauty-quark masses are determined as mc(mc) = 1,290+0,046−0,041(exp /fit)+0,062−0,014(model)+0,03−0,031(parametrization) GeV and mb(mb) = 4,049+0,104−0,109(exp /fit)+0,090−0,032(model)+0,001−0,031(parametrization) GeV.
