The social doctrine of the Church involves greater commitment and engagement of the Church in social problems as well as the promotion of relationships that serve justice and peace. The Catholic ...Church first began relating mass media to its social teaching in the 19th century. As the Church aimed at a broader scope of public, it dealt with means of social communication and examined it through numerous sources – papal encyclicals, conciliar and episcopal documents. The relationship between the Catholic Church and the media is not simple. Approaches to ethics, morality, responsibility and dignity of human beings are sometimes different in media reports and in the aims of the Church in its social doctrine which should provide all members of the society with a sense of direction and instruction for everyday actions. Through the documents presented here, the Church has shown a readiness to face the media as well as the possibility to use them for advancing justice, truth, peace and freedom.
Kao teološko-filozofsko promišljanje o čovjeku i njegovu životu u društvu, socijalni nauk Crkve proizlazi iz papinskih, biskupskih i koncilskih dokumenata. Stoga su glavne teme socijalnog nauka Crkve ljudska osoba, društvena solidarnost i supsidijarnost. U tom nauku, a u svjetlu kršćanskog poimanja ljudske osobe te načela solidarnosti i subsidijarnosti, nude se kršćanski odgovori na neka teška i zamršena pitanja, među kojima se, već više od stotinu godina, ističe tzv. socijalno pitanje, a od druge polovine 20. stoljeća i pitanje uloga koje imaju sredstva društvene komunikacije, mass media. U ovom članku se pokazuje kako odnos Katoličke crkve i medija nije jednostavan: kako se taj nauk izrazio u doba „borbe protiv modernizma“, kako nakon pojave industrijske revolucije, a kako u ‘informacijsko doba’ koje još traje. Može se vidjeti da je pristup etici, moralu, odgovornosti i dostojanstvu ljudske osobe u mainstream medijskom prostoru često oprečno različit od odgovora koje nudi Crkva. Da mediji informaciju u tom prostoru samo ne prenose, nego da ga i stvaraju. Za Crkvu, gledajući njezin socijalni nauk koji bi trebao služiti svim članovima društva kao orijentir i uputa za svakodnevno djelovanje, važno je istinito i cjelovito prenošenje informacija. Kroz ovdje pobrojane dokumente može se vidjeti da Crkva pokazuje spremnost na suočavanje s medijskim izazovima, jednako kao i za mogućnost njihova korištenja u promicanju socijalne pravde, istine, mira i slobode u traženju zajedničkog dobra.

vještine i ponašanje koji mogu ukloniti nepoželjne financijske rizike, kao i potaknuti poduzetničko ponašanje. Sa službenim ...takvim opismenjavanjem i obrazovanjem građana započelo su u svijetu početkom 2003. godine, a sustavnija istraživanja o toj tematici u Hrvatskoj su započela početkom 2015. S obzirom na to da su nositelji trendova mladi, ovo istraživanje usmjereno je na utvrđivanje informiranosti mladih o financijskim pitanjima, kao preduvjeta financijske pismenosti. U istraživanju smo se koristili mješovitom metodologijom koristeći Sequential Explanatory Design. Prvi dio istraživanja je proveden metodom ankete na uzorku od 1731 studenta, a drugi metodom fokus grupa koje su uključile 21 sudionika.
In the literature, financial literacy and financial awareness are described as knowledge, skills and behaviour that can eliminate undesirable financial risks, as well as encourage entrepreneurial behaviour. Official education of citizens around the world has begun in 2003, but in Croatia such a systematic approach started in 2015. Considering the fact that young people are the bearers of future trends this research focuses on identifying young people's awareness of financial issues as a precondition for financial literacy. This research was conducted using mixed methodology and Sequential Explanatory Design. The first part of the research was conducted using a
survey method among 1731 students in Croatia and the second part by using focus groups that included 21 participants.
U radu analiziramo kako društveni akteri u različitim javnim arenama, poput medija, politike, znanosti i civilnog društva, oblikuju percepciju društvenih problema i kako ti problemi postaju socijalna ...stvarnost. Rad naglašava ulogu medijske arene kao ključnog posrednika u definiranju i prikazivanju društvenih problema. Oslanja se na fenomenološki pristup Petera L. Bergera i Thomasa Luckmanna te pokušava povezati dinamičan proces socijalne konstrukcije zbilje s modelom javnih arena i aktivnostima pojedinih aktera unutar tih arena. Rad također ukazuje na potrebu za empirijskim istraživanjem radi boljeg razumijevanja interakcije u medijskoj areni i njenog utjecaja na konstrukciju društvene stvarnosti.
In this paper, we analyze how social actors in various public arenas, such as media, politics, science, and civil society, shape the perception of social problems and how these problems become social reality. The paper emphasizes the role of the media arena as a key intermediary in defining and presenting social problems. It relies on the phenomenological approach of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann and attempts to connect the dynamic process of social construction of reality with the public arenas model and the activities of individual actors within these arenas. The paper also points to the need for empirical research to better understand the interaction in the media arena and its impact on the construction of social reality.
Ovaj rad pruža detaljnu analizu teorija medijskog izbora informacija, istražujući kako različiti aspekti unutar medijskih organizacija utječu na selekciju i prezentaciju vijesti. Fokus je na tri ...glavna pristupa: gatekeeping teorijama, teorijama o informacijskoj vrijednosti vijesti i framing konceptima. Gatekeeping teorije istražuju ulogu pojedinaca unutar medijskih kuća (npr. urednika, novinara) koji odlučuju o sadržaju koji će biti objavljen. Teorije o informacijskoj vrijednosti vijesti koncentriraju se na karakteristike koje informaciju čine privlačnom za javnost, poput aktualnosti, geografske blizine, i značaja događaja. Framing koncepti bave se interpretativnim okvirima kroz koje medijski djelatnici odabiru i oblikuju informacije, oslanjajući se na zajedničke društvene i kulturne obrasce. Rad naglašava da nijedan od ovih pristupa samostalno ne može objasniti složenost medijskog izbora informacija. Integracija različitih teorijskih pristupa pruža bogatiji uvid u mehanizme koji oblikuju medijske sadržaje, reflektirajući složenu dinamiku između individualnih, institucionalnih, sadržajnih i društveno-kulturnih faktora. Kroz ovu sintezu, rad ukazuje na ključnu ulogu medijskih organizacija u oblikovanju informacija koje dosežu javnost, te na njihov utjecaj u oblikovanju društvenih i kulturnih narativa.
This scientific paper provides a detailed analysis of theories on media information selection, exploring how various aspects within media organizations influence the selection and presentation of news. The focus is on three main approaches: gatekeeping theories, news value theories, and framing concepts. Gatekeeping theories examine the role of individuals within media houses (e.g., editors, journalists) who decide what content will be published. News value theories concentrate on the characteristics that make information attractive to the public, such as timeliness, geographical proximity, and the significance of events. Framing concepts deal with the interpretative frameworks through which media professionals select and shape information, relying on common social and cultural patterns. The paper emphasizes that no single approach can independently explain the complexity of media information choice. Integrating various theoretical approaches provides a richer insight into the mechanisms shaping media content, reflecting the complex dynamics between individual, institutional, content, and socio-cultural factors. Through this synthesis, the paper highlights the crucial role of media organizations in shaping information that reaches the public and their influence in shaping social and cultural narratives.

U radu se naglašava da se svaki problem koji se definira unutar jedne arene, kao što je zdravstveni sustav, mora nametnuti unutar te arene prije nego što uðe u borbu za prepoznavanje u široj javnosti. U svakom slučaju, kada problem izaðe iz područja neke javne arene, u našem primjeru zdravstvene, on ulazi u borbu za nametanje meðu velikom populacijom problema koji dolaze iz drugih javnih arena.
The article analyses the orientation towards the present and the future among two main groups: high school students and university students. Through data analysis and interpretation, the work focuses ...on understanding how time orientation plays a role in the theory of authenticity or singularity. Results have shown significant differences between high school students and university students, where university students exhibit a greater focus on the future, and high school students on the present. However, gender and satisfaction with financial situations were not found to be statistically significant for orientation towards the future or the present. In light of the theory of authenticity, the results suggest that time orientation and authenticity are not as closely related to gender and financial status as they are to the educational stage. We can conclude that high school students base their authenticity and singularity more on a hedonistic life centred on the present moment. The article rises questions about how different life aspects, such as educational level, can influence this dynamic and points to the need for further research.
