Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) has established itself as a safe and reliable diagnostic modality that is now routinely employed in the evaluation of endocrine tumors. Although FNAB provides ...specific diagnoses in the majority of cases, certain processes may not be readily distinguished by cytomorphology alone. Akin to the contributions of immunochemistry to diagnostic pathology, molecular diagnostics is now becoming an integral part of patient management. Molecular pathology may provide information regarding the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of numerous lesions. It is anticipated that further research and improvements in technology will result in the development of sensitive and specific tests that will enhance the management of the endocrine patient.PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
