Transport is integral to every city, having a crucial impact on its functioning and development. As road infrastructure does not keep up to speed with the constantly growing numbers of vehicles on ...roads, new solutions are required. Fast urban railway systems are a solution that can reduce transport congestion, with environmental protection issues also taken into account. Contemporary public transport cannot function without modern communication and information technologies. The use of telematics in public transport allows passenger mobility to be sustainable and efficient. Therefore, it seems justified to conduct research on this issue. The aim of the study is to analyze the perception of the use of telematics solutions to service SKM in Szczecin (Poland) with the use of multivariate correspondence analysis. Results of the research indicate that people living in the area of gravity of the SKM have a positive opinion on the application of telematics solutions in the activities of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway. The results obtained are local in nature, but show the direction that researchers can take in analyzing public transport in other agglomerations. In addition, the article presents a tool that greatly facilitates the analysis of survey data, even with a large number of results.
The COVID-19 pandemic has reduced the mobility of urban residents on an international level. Tourist air traffic was suspended as one of many activities. As a result, the aviation industry has ...suffered losses at various levels. In addition to carriers, airports are also suffering due to the effects of the pandemic. Their income comes mainly from charges for take-offs and landings of airplanes, passenger charges, and commercial and restaurant activity. In this paper, the authors attempt to estimate the level of losses incurred by six Polish airports in relation to passenger charges. Based on the data for the years 2015–2019, the forecasts of passenger flows for the year 2020 were estimated using the seasonality indicator method, the method of one-name period trends, and models of linear trends with seasonality. Research has shown that the total losses of the examined airports for the year 2020 amounted to approximately 290 million EUR, and these are losses resulting only from the lack of fees charged for servicing passengers at the airports.

Remuneration policy is an element of company management. Remuneration systems should be flexible and evolutionary. They must consider not only the changes in the external environment but, most of ...all, the changing needs of the internal environment. In practice, this means aligning the company’s strategy and goals with the remuneration system. What is more, the remuneration policy must be consistent with all personnel substrategies, which should systematically create integrated human capital management. The aim of our research was to determine how employees perceive the appropriate structure of remuneration and how the relationships between the elements that make up the structure of remuneration are perceived. Energy sector employees were selected for the study, dividing the group of respondents by gender, age and level of education. The obtained data were submitted to multivariate correspondence analysis. The analysis of the perception map for the variables of gender, age and education, as well as the subjective assessment of the components of remuneration, allows the general assertion that both men and women believe that the amount of the fixed part of remuneration should be influenced by such elements as: work efficiency, education, seniority in the current place of employment, position in the hierarchy of the position held, as well as the level of salaries in the labor market. But people aged 60 and over with a vocational education tend to believe that the amount of the fixed part of remuneration should be influenced by collective agreements. Moreover, people aged 25–34 with higher education believe that the granting of additional benefits should not be affected by collective labor agreements.
Finding a fair system of rewarding employees in energy companies and its influence on their motivation to perform their duties is a problem faced by many economic entities. Therefore, the aim of the ...article is to initially direct further research, taking into account the basic characteristics of employees such as age, gender and level of education, in order to verify whether and to what extent it is necessary to dedicate the communication of the remuneration system to the needs of selected groups. Multiple correspondence analysis was used to analyse the data obtained from the questionnaires, examining the subjective evaluation of professional remuneration with regard to age, gender and level of education of the respondents in energy companies. The results obtained indicate that all enumerated features have an impact on the perception of work remuneration systems. It is also possible to adjust the applied remuneration solutions and the methods and content of messages to particular groups of employees of energy companies.
The COVID-19 pandemic is undoubtedly a destructive factor, strongly affecting the economic fields. From the perspective of the countries affected by the pandemic, almost all sectors of the economy ...saw declines in economic indicators. First, the lockdown and its social consequences contributed to this. The increasing time perspective since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic implies increasingly more studies analyzing its impact on various economic spheres. The aim of the research is to determine the difference in the level of fuel supplies between a pandemic situation and a situation where a pandemic would not occur. We assumed that the pandemic is a determinant of the decline in fuel supplies. The subjects of the analysis were the following fuels: kerosene-type jet fuel, gas oil and diesel oil, motor gasoline, and oil products. The countries of the European Union were analyzed. Monthly data from 2015–2021 provided by Eurostat were used for the analyses. The forecasts for 2020–2021 were determined using the exponential smoothing method. The assumption was shown to be accurate in the case of kerosene-type jet fuel, gas oil, and diesel oil. In this case, there was a clear drop in the level of supplies. The analysis of forecasts shows that if it were not for the COVID-19 pandemic, in the years 2020–2021, in accordance with the forecasts obtained, approximately 31,495 thousand tons of kerosene-type jet fuel and 11,396 thousand tons of gas oil and diesel oil would have been additionally supplied to the EU countries. For oil products, supply volumes also decreased, but unlike previously mentioned fuels, supply levels had not recovered to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2021. On the other hand, the forecast of deliveries indicates the volume of 95,683 thousand tons of oil products.
Air freight transportation is the fastest developing branch of shipping services in Poland and Europe likewise. As the economy develops, demand for air freight is on the rise. Because of ...infrastructure insufficiencies, Polish airports rely on air cargo road feeder services (RFS). The aim of this paper is to analyze air freight transportation in Poland and to forecast air cargo traffic for the Chopin Airport in Warsaw for the years 2018 and 2019 using trend models. The data published by the Polish Civil Aviation Authority for the 2013–2017 period were applied. The analysis shows that thetransport accessibility of the Warsaw Airport significantly affects its overall passenger and cargo traffic. As the forecast suggests, the volume of cargo shipped by air through the Warsaw Airport will assume an upward trend.
This study addresses, for the first time, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the operation of the disability fund in Poland. The study considers the impact of deaths on the number of survivor ...pensions and funeral allowance paid. We selected benefits which are a direct consequence of the death of the insured person and do not involve a medical assessment or subsequent steps in the insurance procedure, which allowed for a novel result, avoiding the time-gap problem. Data of four years were included in the study: 2018 and 2019 as pre-pandemic years and 2020 and 2021 as pandemic years. The research presented in this article (unexpectedly) indicates that there is no impact of the increased number of deaths on the increase in the number of survivor pensions and therefore there is no negative impact of the COVID-19 implications on the disability fund. The relationship between the total number of deaths and the number of funeral allowances is characterized by a high correlation with a positive direction.
For several years, one can observe a clear upward trend in the mobility of Poles. Due to aspects concerning, in particular, environmental protection, the most desirable phenomenon would be a ...significant reduction in the use of private vehicles (passenger cars) for collective transport (especially rail). This is possible especially when there is access to an extensive communication network. The time and cost of traveling with alternative transport is very important. Therefore, the purpose of the publication is to analyze the time efficiency of rail and private vehicle transport, between provincial cities in Poland, based on the designed indicator. It was based on the average length of travel time and the average distance between points. The study covered private cars and railway transport.
Forecasting is one of the measure used in the planning process. It enables effective management of infrastructure and available human resources, including at airports. However, improper prediction of ...future trends may have economic consequences for the company. Therefore, the aim of the study is to determine forecasts of the number of passengers and air operations characterized by the smallest deviations from the real values, on the example of Wrocław Airport. For the needs of the study, an analysis of econometric models of seasonal fluctuations was carried out, as well as the method of seasonality indicators and homologous period trends. The methods were selected due to the low level of forecast error using expired forecasts for 2017. The study was completed with the choice of a method generating forecasts burdened with the smallest error.
