The article explores the literary representation of the nomadic living-wagon by comparing its significance in the auto-representational œuvres of the sintizze Philomena Franz and Sandra Jayat, as ...well as in the hetero-representational work of Alain-Fournier. The works emphasise the architectural dimension of the mobile houses as “dual machines” to the detriment of their practical usage as a means of transport. However, the dynamic nature of the roulotte is bestowed on the inhabitants during their stays at stopping places. The protagonists thus embark on inner journeys which, through their continuity with the mobile nomadic home, become transformative.
The article « “Eternity of morning halts on you”. Stages and locus romani » focusses on the sociopoetics of stages in life of romanis, the way travelling and halts are represented in the literary and ...pictural works of Sintizza Philomena Franz and Romnia Ceija Stojka. If voyaging leads to a mental transport, resourcing relies on a characteristic place. Un ideal halt, the locus romani, is defined by the natural elements of wood, grass and running water in synergy with the presence of verdines (gypsy caravans). The verdines combine mobility and halt and thus play an eminent role in romani life. Despite their unchallenged role for romani identity, the mobile habitats are nowadays representing a vulnerable cultural heritage.

In seinem Beitrag „Zur Psychoanalyse des geschichtlich Unheimlichen: das Beispiel der Sinti und Roma“ (Maciejewski 1994) hat Maciejewski überzeugend den Antisintismus1 aus der psychoanalytischen ...Untersuchung des Unheimlichen nach Freud hergeleitet. Das Werk La septième fille2 des Roma-Autors Matéo Maximoff (verfasst 1957-1958, erstmals erschienen auf Deutsch 1967 im Züricher Verlag Flamberg, 1979 auf Englisch, 1982 auf Französisch) gestattet es, das Phänomen des Unheimlichen (Maciejewski 1994: 37, id. 1996) im Kontext der Autorepräsentation zu analysieren. Die Handlung des Romans – „le plus beau de ses romans“ (Gartner 1982: 9) – spielt im Jahr 1941 in einem der zehn französischen Internierungslager für Tsiganes, dessen Name nicht näher spezifiziert wird (Maximoff 1982: 29). Der Romani-Schriftsteller und Ethnologe Maximoff (Kovacshazy 2017) richtet sein Hauptaugenmerk auf seine eigene Community, um Differenzen des Umgangs mit unheimlichen Motiven innerhalb der von ihm beschriebenen Gemeinschaft zu reflektieren. Maximoff selbst stammt mütterlicherseits aus einer französischen Manouche-Familie, väterlicherseits von Rom Kalderash ab. Den vorliegenden Roman verfasste er wenige Jahre, nachdem er selbst aus einem Internierungslager im Süden Frankreichs befreit worden war (ibid.: 14). Fiktionalität und Faktualität gehen im Sinne der phantastischen Literatur ein Mischungsverhältnis miteinander ein. Maximoff stützt sich in einer gewollt authentischen Manier auf exakte Beobachtungen der Sitten und Bräuche der „tzigane kalderash“ (ibid.: 14sq.). Besonders ergiebig werden Geschlechterverhältnisse verhandelt. Dem Numinos-Unheimlichen des Weiblichen gilt im Kampf der Geschlechter der Sieg. Die „unheimliche Frau“ (Lampe 2001) in Gestalt der Hexe Dhrabarni und des intelligenten Mädchens Silenka als ihrer Doppelgängerin wird ihre Macht in Form einer verdrängten Sehnsucht des aufgeklärten Mannes nach dem Zuhause des Mutterleibs festigen. Das Werk des Unheimlichen als magisch-sakraler Raum bleibt der außergewöhnlichen Romnia vorbehalten.
Le poème Plein-champ1 au sous-titre Poésie verte par Pascale Auraix-Jonchière (2020), est remarquable dans une double perspective. Le lyrisme vert évoque dans le même temps une dimension spatiale et ...une dimension féminine unique. Notre enjeu sera l’analyse de l’intrication concrète de la poétique spatiale et de la poétique féminine. Selon notre hypothèse, une géopoétique au féminin se fait jour notamment à travers le thème de l’insecte. L’hymne poétique à la nature est construit par un flux de cinquante poèmes numérotés, interrompus à intervalles irréguliers par huit poèmes en italiques. Tandis que les poèmes en vers libres, comme un corrido,2 se déroulent dans une structure cyclique cosmique, les poèmes en italiques, tout en s’y intégrant, dévoilent une force vitale intarissable en tant que notes particulièrement intenses. Si le titre Plein-champ se réfère à un lieu concret, voire à un paysage symbolique à référent topographique, le sous-titre Poésie verte semble plutôt proposer une as- sociation entre une couleur et un concept. Or, à quel concept, par rapport aux travaux d’Auraix-Jonchière, penser sinon au ‚bohémianisme‘?
The history of written Romani literature is only about 100 years old, and thus Romani literatures are still being defined and consolidated. At least two special features characterize this young ...literature: on the one hand, it is a multilingual diasporic world literature that often can be characterized as engaged literature and tries to deconstruct various age-old stereotypes of the minority. On the other hand, female authors play a strikingly prominent role. Female authors frequently achieve visibility with their texts on the national book markets. Some authors appear in their own texts as committed feminists and/or human rights activists. For other authors, sexuality and gender play a less prominent role in their works. Additionally, women often also play very central roles in texts by male authors. Therefore, this volume aims to explore the different facets of Romani literatures on two interrelated axes. First, the essays explore the status of several diverse works as transnational world literature. Second, the contributions examine the significance of writing as a form of social engagement and self-empowerment. What emerges is the observation that mainly women authors have been speaking out and standing up for their rights as women and Romnya.
André Velter est un des poètes qui a le plus recherché des collaborations. Il fonde son Dire sur un Tu en co-présence. Le dialogue est au fondement de sa poésie de la présence, il s’expose dans ...Aisha, puis évolue dans Dar-î-Nûr. Vallée de la lumière (deux livres de poésie écrits avec Serge Sautreau) d’une poésie du visage à une poésie du paysage. Si de 1963 à 1976 une écriture (néo-)surréaliste prévaut dans l’œuvre d’André Velter, ses voyages au long cours en Afghanistan et ses séjours en Himalaya à partir des années 1980 orientent définitivement son style vers un lyrisme aride, marqué par les cultures et les paysages du Haut-Pays, dont témoignent Le Haut-Pays et L’Arbre-Seul. L’amour extrême : poèmes pour Chantal Mauduit, qui appartient au lyrisme amoureux qu’il développe entre 1996 et 1998, signe l’apogée de sa création en étoffant désormais son style aride d’une tendance lyrique fauve. Cette thèse propose une reconstruction de la poétique de l’auteur sous l’égide d’une notion centrale : la poésie vécue. Elle présuppose la continuité de l’œuvre et de la vie dans la catégorie de l’œuvre-vie. L’analyse de la poïétique d’André Velter en tant que géopoïéthique nomade – valorisant son affinité avec la catégorie poéthique et la méthode géopoétique – permet l’intégration mutuelle de l’œuvre et de la vie, impliquant les contextes géographiques, historiques et autobiographiques. L’engagement, la révolte et l’amour naissent poétiquement dans un même mouvement qui lie la structure poïétique profonde du Dire, basée sur des valeurs qu’implique la Relation lyrique à l’Autre (l’étranger, l’inconnu), à un éthos singulièrement velterien, qui est indissociable de son style. Le paysage du poète se présente ainsi par son Dire et par son Dit en tant que poésie vécue d’André Velter.
The thesis ‘The Living Poetry of André Velter’ develops an analytical approach to the Velterian œuvre – a genre of geopoetics in the style of Kenneth White. Using the recently developed concepts of ecocriticism, geocriticism, literary geography, landscape thinking (pensée-paysage) and poethics, the thesis approaches the body of Velter’s lyrical creation between 1963 and 2013. From this approach the analytical concept of mondopoethics is developed and clearly defined as a method for analysing Velter’s lyrical work and ideas, in particular his “living poetry”. This concept of mondopoethics arises from the nature and characteristics of Velter’s poetry and is also appropriate for analysing other poietic (lyrical and non-lyrical) work.The main research is focussed on the style, themes and poiethics of André Velter’s lyrical work between 1963 and 2001. The analysis reveals three main periods. The first being a neo-surrealist period from 1963 to 1976. This is followed by a mature period called ‘arid lyrics’ (lyrisme aride) from 1976 onwards. In this period Velter’s work is sustained by two complementary themes – the ‘arid’ and the ‘fauve’. The ‘arid’ style develops into the wilder ‘fauve’ style which then becomes dominant by about 1996. This development initiates the third main lyrical period from 1996 onwards. During the mature ‘arid lyrics’ period the two integrated and opposing themes (‘arid’ and ‘fauve’) create an energetic tension as between two opposite poles. The poems identified as thematically ‘arid’ are principally related to long journeys throughout Afghanistan and the Ladakh-Himalaya. The poems identified as thematically ‘fauve’ are related to wild love, death and mythic animals such as various birds, yaks, the gypsy horse Zingaro and the bull of the corrida. The change in style from ‘arid’ to ‘fauve’ corresponds closely with the changes revealed by the poet’s biography.In 1976 Velter leaves Paris for the mountains of Afghanistan and the Himalaya. These eastern landscapes, and eastern cultures such as Sufism and Buddhism, then influence his poetry which turns towards orality and integrates breath and step into its rhythm and typology. His passionate love for the alpinist Chantal Mauduit in 1996 and her sudden death in the Himalaya in 1998 turns Velter’s lyrics towards the great themes of love and death – particularly in his trilogy ‘L’amour extrême: poèmes pour Chantal Mauduit’ (2007).The principal poiethic structure sustaining the poems throughout all creative periods is the dialogic principle ‘I – You’ (cf Martin Buber’s coupling ‘I – Thou’). All the poems in the Velterian lyrics have an addressee. This may be a friend – as in the ‘You – Thou’ of the poem ‘Aisha’ (1963) (co-written with Serge Sautreau), or a location – as in the poem of the Afghan landscape ‘Dar-î-Nûr’ (1978/1983). This fundamental dialogical poiethic principle culminates with the love lyrics addressed to Chantal Mauduit. It continues in Velter’s poems even after her death: ‘You are the voice/that responds to my voice/no poem ever without it’. It also nourishes the artistic co-creation with painters and musicians, highlighting what Velter calls ‘a new oral poetry’ (nouvelle oralité poétique, 1999).
Die poésie vécue André Velters ist eine Antwort auf Lebens- und Erlebensprozesse. Sie entsteht an der Wurzel des Werdens und ist eingebettet in eine umfassende Liebe zum Leben. Ihr innerstes poietisches Prinzip ist eine Quelle poetischer visio und auditio. Dieses lyrische Prinzip stellt der Dichter im Gedicht durch sein Dire (Sagen) dar, dem das Dit (Gesagte) des Gedichtes korrespondiert. Poesie wird als co-naissance des lyrischen Subjekts und der Wirklichkeit (le réel) sowohl außerhalb der Sprache als auch im Akt des Sagens gebildet. Wenn die Poesie als Gesagtes dem Ursprung ihres Sagens radikal korrespondiert (ihm entsprechend antwortet, ko-respondiert), vermittelt sie in Bildern und Figuren ein lyrisches Ethos. Dieses Ethos repräsentiert performativ die singuläre poésie vécue André Velters. Es gründet auf einer dialogischen Fundamentalpoethik, die dem Anderen und dem Raum antwortet. Durch ihren Bezug zur Quelle, das heißt, zur Genese von Welt, verkörpert die poésie vécue in arte das Unsichtbare an der Grenze zum Unverfügbaren. Diese Landschaft des Dichters öffnet dem realen Leben (la réalité) den Übergang hin zur Präsenz (présence) der lebendigen poetischen Bewegung (mouvement perpétuel) von Wirklichkeit (le réel). Die Dynamik der poésie vécue wird getragen von den polaren stilistischen Prinzipen des lyrisme aride und des fauvisme, die in der Spannung von Knappheit (dénuement) und Übermaß (démesure) das Gedicht formal und inhaltlich bestimmen.Das radikale Prinzip der poésie vécue zeichnet sich durch hauptsächlich drei Perioden aus. Während der Revolten in Paris 1963-65 keimt eine engagierte Lyrik im Dialog mit Serge Sautreau auf. Sie transformiert sich durch das Erleben der Kulturen, Landschaften und religiösen Praktiken in Afghanistan und im tibetisch geprägten Ladakh-Himalaja während der späten siebziger, achtziger und frühen neunziger Jahre. Sie erreicht ihre vollkommene Form in der Liebeslyrik für die 1998 im Himalaja durch eine Lawine getötete Alpinistin Chantal Mauduit.
