Nosso dossiê, cuja chamada esteve aberta ao público de março a setembro de 2022, objetivou suscitar reflexões sobre necropolítica, biopolítica e demais ferramentas conceituais voltadas à compreensão ...do Estado e suas engrenagens de moer gente, como aquelas que mortificam re-existências, especialmente da cartografia política localizada no sul/subsolo: “corpos-territórios” negros, travestis, indígenas, quilombolas, afeminados, sapatões, favelados, bichas, trabalhadores, refugiados, (d)entre tantxs outrxs. Se tais corpos são alvos certeiros de balas/bombas, canetadas/sentenças, decretos, bisturis e falos, ao mesmo tempo são corpos que se rebelam em “aliança” (Butler, 2018) contra o neoliberalismo que abjetifica e aprofunda a precarização de vidas que (des)importam ao Estado e seus tentáculos.
Between 2010 and 2011, 283 clinically relevant non-duplicate anaerobic isolates were analysed by MALDI-TOF MS and the results were compared with conventional identification. Immediately after ...isolation, an ethanol precipitation was carried out on isolated colonies and the stabilized samples were anonymized and sent to the laboratory of Bruker Daltonik, Bremen, Germany, where the identification was done using the standard protocol for micro-organism identification on a Microflex LT mass spectrometer equipped with the MALDI Biotyper 3.0 software. Of 283 isolates, 218 (77 %) were identified at species level log(score) ≥2.0, 31 isolates (10.95 %) were identified at genus level log(score) 1.7-2.0 and 34 (12 %) gave non-reliable identification log(score) <1.7. Out of the 31 isolates with log(score) 1.7-2.0, in the case of 24 isolates the species name given by the MALDI Biotyper was accepted if it was the same as for the classical identification. Of 218 isolates identified at species level, 40 results were discordant with phenotypic identification, and of the 31 isolates identified at genus level according to the manufacturer's score cut-off, four gave results discordant with the phenotypic method. For the 44 discordant results, 16S rRNA gene sequencing confirmed MALDI-TOF MS identification in 41 cases, leaving three isolates (0.7 %) that had been misidentified by MALDI-TOF MS.
This work mainly aims to identify and understand the factors influencing the switching of transportation modes among higher-education students in Joinville, Brazil, when traveling to universities. An ...online questionnaire was prepared for data collection which obtained 511 responses from six higher education institutions. The revealed preference survey identified the bus as the most used by students today, while the stated preference survey assessed the possibility of changing modes. Employing a multinomial logit model, the results indicate that students would be interested in switching from individual motor vehicles to other options. The scenarios for switching to buses presented the highest switching probability. Bus cost was the most important factor for switching. Despite the small number, the students showed interest in switching from the car to active modes. This may indicate the lack of current infrastructure and the need for investments so these modes can be seen as quality options for users. Finally, a transport mode switch would occur only if alternative modes to the car or their infrastructure are improved; otherwise, students maintain their usual choices. This knowledge can assist in the development of public policies aimed at urban management seeking to increase the supply and the quality of more sustainable modes of transport.
Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu stricto (s.s.), the temperate lineage of the brown dog tick, is the most common tick found on dogs from urban areas in Rio Grande do Sul (RS) state, southern Brazil. ...Chemical treatments against ticks are important to control this pest, but can lead to selection for acaricide resistance. Unfortunately, little is known about acaricide resistance in this tick species in Brazil, although such information is very important to companion animal clinical practice. The objective of this study was to analyze acaricide susceptibility of R. sanguineus s.s. from the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, RS. Engorged females ticks were collected in ten different locations, from naturally infested dogs or the environment (homes, shelters and kennels). The progenies were used in toxicological larval tests with deltamethrin, fipronil and ivermectin. Mortality data was used to determine the median lethal concentrations (LC50) for each tick population and resistance was characterized based on relative susceptibility of the different tick populations against each acaricide. Seven samples were considered resistant to deltamethrin, with resistance ratios (RR) ranging from 2.32 to 5.67. From five tick populations tested with fipronil, three were considered resistant, with RR varying from 2.56 to 13.83. For ivermectin, resistance ratios were lower, ranging from 1.54 to 2.97. The results reveal a notable variance of susceptibility to deltamethrin, fipronil and ivermectin in the R. sanguineus s.s. populations studied. This study documents for the first time the existence of acaricide-resistant populations of R. sanguineus s.s. in Brazil.
Desde a aprovação e veiculação da chamada do presente dossiê, intitulado “Memórias e práticas {sociais} de resistências”, idealizamos o convite à Magali Mendes – tanto pela amizade que cultivamos com ...a entrevistada, como pela admiração que por ela nutrimos. Se utilizamos alguns parágrafos para expressar um pouco sobre essa relação, foi porque os transbordantes encontros desta entrevista só foram possíveis por conta dos vínculos políticos, éticos e afetivos com Magali.
No final de 2021, já estávamos completando dois anos de muitos traumas que transbordavam em dores espraiadas em nossos corpos-almas-psiques, com milhares e mais milhares de mortes evitáveis em um país governado pelo (denunciado como genocida) Jair Messias Bolsonaro e o negacionismo que embalou sua equipe na gestão da pandemia.
Feitas essas considerações, complementamos que a conversa sob o formato de “entrevista” com Magali Mendes se deu em ao menos quatro momentos, diferentes e complementares entre si. O primeiro foi o encontro presencial no dia 24 de junho de 2022, em Campinas/SP, com Magali nos recebendo em sua casa. Durante a intensidade desse encontro de “corpo-presença”, recebemos a notícia do assassinato de Vitor Fernandes, vítima de uma violenta e ilegal ação de despejo praticada pela Polícia Militar (PM) do estado de Mato Grosso do Sul no tekoha Guapo’y.
O segundo encontro ocorreu em formato virtual pela plataforma Google Meet. Um possível roteiro, que serviria como fios condutores da prosa, foi encaminhado com antecedência para Magali, a fim de que pudesse maturar o que tanto desejava conosco partilhar. Após a gravação dessa conversa, ocorrida em 28 de julho de 2022, a transcrição literal foi realizada pelo querido Vinícius Ferraz Martins, para que posterior edição tecida por Dani, Simone e Magali se fizesse neste real que segue.
Prevalence of Physical Activity among the Working Population and Correlation with Work‐Related Factors: Results from the First German National Health Survey: Sven Schneider, et al. Department of ...Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Heidelberg, Germany—This paper investigates levels of engagement in physical activity (PA) among the total German working population and for specific subgroups. The first national health survey for the Federal Republic of Germany was conducted from October 1997 to March 1999. The following study is based on a representative net sample of 3,323 employed persons aged 18 to 69. Bivariate methods and multiple logistic regression analyses were used to investigate the relationship between PA and workplace and occupational factors in addition to social and lifestyle‐specific correlates. Four out of 10 gainfully employed persons (39.2%) do not engage in sport. Those with physically strenuous jobs and frequent overtime work are significantly less likely to engage in leisure‐time PA. Non‐manual workers, and younger, unmarried workers are particularly likely to have an active lifestyle. Our study population did not correspond to the popular image of the recreational athlete as an abstinent, “ascetic” individual: The subgroups of non‐smokers and teetotalers contained significantly fewer athletes than the corresponding reference groups. The present paper is the first to publish representative data on PA in the working population since German reunification in 1990. The data show that workers with a high risk of morbidity are those least likely to engage in leisuretime PA (manual workers with below‐average educational qualifications from lower socioeconomic groups). The significant accumulation of socially depriving living conditions and lifestyle deficits among inactive subjects shows that one‐off preventive measures intended to motivate sporting activity are likely to be ineffective in these subgroups of the population. We therefore advocate continuous exercise programs near the workplace involving exercise training suited to the particular occupation, dietary advice, relaxation techniques and occupational medical care.
Neste artigo estabelecemos singela conversa entre autores que se dedicam a duas chaves/categorias analíticas, cujos desdobramentos nos levam à compreensão da realidade que vivemos em diferentes ...nuances no contemporâneo. São elas: Racismo de Estado e Necropolítica. Como disparadores reflexivos, trazemos para a cena alguns discursos midiáticos sul-mato-grossenses, bem como certas definições articuladas na “Casa das Estrelas – o universo pelo olhar das crianças” de Javier Naranjo. Tal articulação se dá com o intuito de pôr em outra perspectiva a agudez e dureza dos dados publicizados numa localidade, o Mato Grosso do Sul (e sua porção sul) que cada vez mais escracha o ódio contra corpos e expressões do feminino.
Seminal plasma contains a variety of extracellular vesicles (EVs) that deliver RNAs including microRNAs (miRNAs) molecules. However, the roles of these EVs along with their delivered RNAs and their ...interactions with male infertility are not clear. Sperm-associated antigen 7 (SPAG 7) is expressed in male germ cells and plays a crucial role in several biological functions associated with sperm production and maturation. In this study, we aimed to identify the post-transcriptional regulation of SPAG7 in seminal plasma (SF-Native) and seminal plasma-derived extracellular vesicles (SF-EVs) collected from 87 men undergoing infertility treatment. Among the multiple binding sites for miRNAs within its 3'UTR of SPAG7, we identified the binding of four miRNAs (miR-15b-5p, miR-195-5p, miR-424-5p, and miR-497-5p) to the 3'UTR of SPAG7 by the dual luciferase assays. Analyzing sperm, we found reduced mRNA expression levels of SPAG7 in SF-EVs and SF-Native samples from oligoasthenozoospermic men. By contrast, two miRNAs (miR-424-5p and miR-497-5p) form the SF-Native samples, and four miRNAs (miR-195-5p, miR-424-5p, miR-497-5p, and miR-6838-5p) from the SF-EVs samples showed significantly higher expression levels in oligoasthenozoospermic men. The expression levels of miRNAs and SPAG7 were significantly correlated with basic semen parameters. These findings contribute significantly to our understanding of regulatory pathways in male fertility by showing a direct link between upregulated miRNA, notably miR-424, and downregulated SPAG7 both in seminal plasma and in plasma-derived EVs likely contributing to oligoasthenozoospermia.
A decisão de veicular o projeto de pesquisa de Satine Rodrigues Borges submetido ao edital de 2010-2011 da FUNDECT/MS, a fim de ser desenvolvido ao largo dos anos de 2012 e 2013, junto ao mestrado ...acadêmico em Antropologia da UFGD – o PPGAnt, e sob a orientação de Simone Becker, se deu no “apagar das luzes”.
O dossiê "Memórias e Práticas {Sociais} de Resistências" já estava em vias de se findar, quando o projeto de Satine saltou em meio às revisões de arquivos do “google drive” que Simone estava a fazer. Assim, rimando Memórias e Práticas Sociais de Resistências à vida em potência que pulsa em cada uma das pessoas que com Satine conviveram, ao lembrarmos dela. E àquelas tocadas a partir de suas memórias.
A partir de pesquisas complementares entre si, o presente ensaio volta-se à descrição genealógica (das biografias) dos parlamentares envolvidos no trâmite da PEC 215. Em meio às tessituras das ...biografias nota-se a prevalência e a capilaridade dos agentes da bancada ruralista na gest(aç)ão das alterações no processo demarcatório de terras indígenas. O processo demarcatório tende - se a PEC 215 for aprovada - a se deslocar do Executivo para o Congresso Nacional. Enfim, os entrelaçamentos entre os parlamentares da bancada ruralista com as outras principais bancadas, suscita o quão transpartidárias são estas movimentações.
