Phys. Rev. Lett. 129 (2022) 1, 011804 We report a search for nonstandard neutrino interactions (NSI) using eight

...Observatory. By reconstructing incident energies and zenith angles for
atmospheric neutrino events, this analysis presents unified confidence
intervals for the NSI parameter $\epsilon_{\mu \tau}$. The best-fit value is
consistent with no NSI at a p-value of 25.2%. With a 90% confidence interval of
$-0.0041 \leq \epsilon_{\mu \tau} \leq 0.0031$ along the real axis and similar
strength in the complex plane, this result is the strongest constraint on any
NSI parameter from any oscillation channel to date.

Purpose
Radiosynoviorthesis (RSO) using the intraarticular application of beta-particle emitting radiocolloids has for decades been used for the local treatment of inflammatory joint diseases. The ...injected radiopharmaceuticals are phagocytized by the superficial macrophages of the synovial membrane, resulting in sclerosis and fibrosis of the formerly inflamed tissue, finally leading to reduced joint effusion and alleviation of joint pain.
Methods
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) has written and approved these guidelines in tight collaboration with an international team of clinical experts, including rheumatologists. Besides clinical and procedural aspects, different national legislative issues, dosimetric considerations, possible complications, and side effects are addressed.
Conclusion
These guidelines will assist nuclear medicine physicians in performing radiosynoviorthesis. Since there are differences regarding the radiopharmaceuticals approved for RSO and the official indications between several European countries, this guideline can only give a framework that must be adopted individually.
Gas phase H2O2, organic peroxides, and formaldehyde (HCHO) have been measured in situ during October/November 1996 on board RV Polarstern in surface air over the Atlantic from 48°N‐35°S with ...different analytical methods. The results indicate that recombination and self‐reactions of peroxy radicals largely dominate over scavenging by NO. The peroxy radical chemistry was governed by the photooxidation of CH4 and CO, as could be deduced from our failure to detect organic hydroperoxides other than CH3OOH (methyl hydroperoxide (MHP)). Hydroperoxide and formaldehyde mixing ratios were highest within the tropics with peak values of around 2000 parts per trillion by volume (pptv) (H2O2), 1500 pptv (MHP), and 1000 pptv (HCHO). In the case of H2O2 and MHP we observed diurnal variations of the mixing ratios in the tropical North Atlantic and derived deposition rates of around (1.8±0.6)×10−5 s−1 for H2O2 and (1.2±0.4)×10−5 s−1 for MHP. The measured MHP/(H2O2+MHP) and MHP/HCHO ratios corresponded to 0.32±0.12 and 0.87±0.4, respectively. HCHO mixing ratios observed during the expedition were significantly higher than predicted by current photochemical theory based on the photooxidation of CH4 and CO.
Gas-phase H^sub 2^O^sub 2^, organic peroxides and carbonyl compoundswere determined at various sites from Mid-July to early August 1998 during the BERLIOZ campaign in Germany. The sites were located ...northwest of Berlin and were chosen to determine pollutants downwind of the city emissions during a summer smog episode. Hydrogen peroxide (H^sub 2^O^sub 2^),methyl hydroperoxide (MHP, CH^sub 3^OOH) and occasionally hydroxymethyl hydroperoxide (HMHP, HOCH^sub 2^OOH) were quantified in air samples by commercial fluorimetric methods and classical HPLC with post-column derivatisation by horseradish peroxidase/p-hydroxyphenyl acetic acid and fluorimetric detection. Carbonyl compounds were determined in ambient air by a novel method based onO-pentafluorobenzyl hydroxylamine as derivatisation agent.Mixing ratio profiles of the hydroperoxides and the carbonyl compounds are reported for the intensive phase of the campaign, 20-21 July, 1998. Peroxides showed pronounced diurnal variations with peak mixing ratios in the early afternoon. At times, a second maximum was observed in the late afternoon. The major part of the H^sub 2^O^sub 2^ was formed throughrecombination reactions of HO^sub 2^ radicals, but there is some evidencethat H^sub 2^O^sub 2^ is also formed from ozonolysis ofanthropogenic and/or biogenic alkenes. Diurnal variations of mixing ratios of various carbonyl compounds are reported: alkanals (C^sub 2^ to C^sub 10^,isobutanal), unsaturated carbonyl compounds (methacrolein, methylvinylketone, acrolein), hydroxycarbonyl (glycolaldehyde, hydroxyacetone) and dicarbonyl compounds (glyoxal, methylglyoxal, biacetyl), aromatic compounds (benzaldehyde, o- and m-tolylaldehyde) and pinonaldehyde.PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
This in-vitro study investigated the influence of the contrast agents iothalamate (Conray) and special preparations of iotrolan (Isovist) and iopromide (Ultravist) without ethylenediaminetetraacetic ...acid (EDTA), the anaesthetic Scandicain and the glucocorticoid triamcinolone on the stability of 90Y-, 169Er- and 186Re-radiocolloids used for radiation synovectomy.
Vials of 1 ml of synovial fluid and 0.02 ml of radiocolloid suspension (0.56-3.6 MBq) were mixed with 0.06, 0.6 and 1.0 ml of each contrast agent. In an additional series, 0.1 ml of Scandicain and 0.1 ml of triamcinolone were tested. Thin layer chromatography and ultrafiltration/centrifugation were performed between 1 h and 15 days after incubation with negative and positive controls.
Within 24 h, 0.6 and 1.0 ml of Conray had mobilized 5-20% of the 90Y and 169Er out of the colloids. No interference between 186Re-colloids and Conray was visible before the ninth day after incubation. Iotrolan and iopromide without EDTA had no effect on the stability at shorter incubation periods of up to 6 days. The addition of Scandicain did not produce low-molecular 90Y or 169Er in the presence of synovial fluid. The fraction of low-molecular 186Re reached 4% after 24 h. Triamcinolone did not have any effect on stability in the presence of synovial fluid.
The disintegration of the radioactive colloids can be attributed to either the formation of EDTA complexes or radiolytic effects. The volume of the injected contrast agent should be as small as possible to confirm correct intra-articular distribution.
Grand canonical and canonical ensemble Monte Carlo computer simulations of the adsorption of N2 on the (110) face of rutile at 77 K are reported. A novel ab initio adsorbate−adsorbent interaction ...potential is employed in conjunction with the X1 nitrogen−nitrogen potential to investigate the adsorption mechanism. It is demonstrated that at low pressures (1 Torr and below) the Ti adsorption sites within the depressed rows of oxides on the rutile (110) face (denoted by A) are completely occupied by nitrogen molecules in end-on orientations with slight alternating tilts perpendicular to the row axis that are produced by repulsive lateral interactions. At higher pressures, adsorption on rows of exposed oxides (denoted by B) commences, typically with a side-on orientation of the N2 molecules. The calculated isotherm of adsorption exhibits type II behavior according to the Brunauer−Deming−Deming−Teller classification, in agreement with experimental findings. Although the experimental isotherms are often evaluated using the Brunauer−Emmett−Teller adsorption model, our simulations indicate that the assumptions of this model are not fulfilled. The implications of these discrepancies and their influence on surface area determinations are discussed.
