White light generation by mixing red, green, and blue laser diodes (RGB LDs) was demonstrated with Commission International de l'Eclairage coordinates of (0.2928, 0.2981), a correlated color ...temperature of 8382 K, and a color rendering index of 54.4 to provide a maximal illuminance of 7540 lux. All the white lights generated using RGB LDs were set within the risk group-1 criterion to avoid the blue-light hazard to human eyes. In addition, the RGB-LD mixed white light was diffused using a frosted glass to avoid optical aberration and to improve the performance of the lighting source. In addition, visible light communication (VLC) by using RGB-LD mixed white-light carriers and a point-to-point scheme over 1 m was performed in the directly modulated 16-QAM OFDM data format. In back-to-back transmission, the maximal allowable data rate at 10.8, 10.4, and 8 Gbps was determined for R, G, and B LDs, respectively. Moreover, the RGB-LD mixed white light-based indoor wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM)-VLC system yielded a total allowable transmission data rate of 8.8 Gbps over 0.5 m in free space. Such a high-speed RGB-LD mixed WDM-VLC system without any channel interference can be used to simultaneously provide data transmission and white lighting in an indoor environment.
The androgen receptor (AR) has been linked to bladder cancer (BCa) progression, but if this involves circular RNAs (circRNAs) remains unclear. Here, we find that AR alters the levels of circRNA‐FNTA ...(circFNTA) to increase BCa cell invasion and chemo‐resistance. Mechanistically, AR represses the RNA editing gene ADAR2 via direct binding to its 5′ promoter region to increase circFNTA levels, which then sponges the microRNA miR‐370‐3p to increase the expression of its host gene FNTA. This AR‐mediated ADAR2/circFNTA/miR‐370‐3p/FNTA pathway then activates KRAS signaling to alter BCa cell invasion and chemo‐sensitivity to cisplatin. A clinical BCa sample survey shows that circFNTA expression is elevated in BCa tissues, and results from a BCa mouse model indicate that depletion of circFNTA leads to the suppression of BCa metastases and increased cisplatin chemo‐sensitivity. Together, based on our results using multiple BCa cell lines and an in vivo mouse model we suggest that targeting this newly identified AR/ADAR2/circFNTA/miR‐370‐3p/FNTA/KRAS axis may lead to the development of therapies to suppress BCa metastasis and to increase its chemo‐sensitivity.

A GaN blue laser diode (BLD)-based visible-light communication link is demonstrated in a seawater environment to provide 16-quadrature amplitude modulation orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing ...(QAM OFDM) data transmission at 14.8 Gbps over 1.7 m. Lengthening the seawater distance to 10.2 m only decreases the transmission data rate by 4 Gbps, as caused by the frquency response limitation of the used avalanche photodiode. To optimize the QAM-OFDM transmission, the sampling rate of the encoded data is compromised to avoid the aliasing and oversampling effects during the waveform extraction procedure. The sampling rate is optimized to 3-5 times of the encoded data bandwidth for suppressing peak-to-average power ratio. Oversampling not only filters out background noise but also attenuates data amplitude to degrade transmission performance. Without using the multicarrier spectrally filtered OFDM, the 16-QAM OFDM data format only promotes the transmission capacity of BLD up to 7.6 Gbps in seawater. With spectrally filtering out the sidelobes of each OFDM subcarrier, the allowable modulation bandwidth is greatly improved from 1.9 to 2.7 GHz, as the intercarrier interference induced crosstalk between subbands is relieved to improve the SNR of the carried data with a raw data rate of up to 10.8 Gbps.
Memristor crossbar with programmable conductance could overcome the energy consumption and speed limitations of neural networks when executing core computing tasks in image processing. However, the ...implementation of crossbar array (CBA) based on ultrathin 2D materials is hindered by challenges associated with large‐scale material synthesis and device integration. Here, a memristor CBA is demonstrated using wafer‐scale (2‐inch) polycrystalline hafnium diselenide (HfSe2) grown by molecular beam epitaxy, and a metal‐assisted van der Waals transfer technique. The memristor exhibits small switching voltage (0.6 V), low switching energy (0.82 pJ), and simultaneously achieves emulation of synaptic weight plasticity. Furthermore, the CBA enables artificial neural network with a high recognition accuracy of 93.34%. Hardware multiply‐and‐accumulate (MAC) operation with a narrow error distribution of 0.29% is also demonstrated, and a high power efficiency of greater than 8‐trillion operations per second per Watt is achieved. Based on the MAC results, hardware convolution image processing can be performed using programmable kernels (i.e., soft, horizontal, and vertical edge enhancement), which constitutes a vital function for neural network hardware.

To enable high-speed underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) in tap-water and seawater environments over long distances, a 450-nm blue GaN laser diode (LD) directly modulated by pre-leveled ...16-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) data was employed to implement its maximal transmission capacity of up to 10 Gbps. The proposed UWOC in tap water provided a maximal allowable communication bit rate increase from 5.2 to 12.4 Gbps with the corresponding underwater transmission distance significantly reduced from 10.2 to 1.7 m, exhibiting a bit rate/distance decaying slope of -0.847 Gbps/m. When conducting the same type of UWOC in seawater, light scattering induced by impurities attenuated the blue laser power, thereby degrading the transmission with a slightly higher decay ratio of 0.941 Gbps/m. The blue LD based UWOC enables a 16-QAM OFDM bit rate of up to 7.2 Gbps for transmission in seawater more than 6.8 m.
A major obstacle hindering the application of orbital-free density functional theory (OF-DFT) to all metals is the lack of accurate local pseudopotentials (LPSs), especially for transition metals. In ...this work, we developed high-quality LPSs for all simple and transition metals by fitting the atomic eigenvalues and orbital norms beyond the cutoff radii. Due to the lack of nonlocality in LPSs, it is very challenging to simultaneously fit the semicore and outermost valence orbitals of transition metals. We overcame this issue by excluding the semicore orbitals from the LPS optimizations. This allows us to achieve excellent fittings of the outermost valence orbitals, which are responsible for chemical bonding. The norm-conserving condition is then satisfied, leading to high-quality LPSs. To construct LPSs for magnetic systems, we introduce an additional metric: the atomic spin-polarization energy. By including this metric in the fitting, the LPSs reasonably reproduced many properties of magnetic metals and alloys. The high-quality LPSs developed in this work bring us one step closer to large-scale, reliable OF-DFT simulations of all metals and their alloys.
Compulsory citizenship behaviour (CCB) refers to extra‐role behaviours that are not necessarily voluntary or driven by goodwill, and are often conducted under duress or performed in response to ...supervisor or coworker pressure. The literature is currently unclear about whether these behaviours have negative, positive, or a nuanced combination of outcomes. We address this confusion by drawing on Conservation of Resources Theory to explain employees' daily depletion and organization‐based self‐esteem (OBSE) mechanisms that capture respective costs and benefits of daily CCB. We also explain how employees' extraversion and leader–member exchange (LMX) are critical boundary conditions of these effects. Using an experience sampling method, we collected data twice per day from 186 full‐time employees across 10 working days, yielding 1551 valid daily responses. The results of multilevel path analyses showed that: (a) daily CCB had a positive indirect effect on next‐day interpersonal deviance via increased ego depletion, with extraversion buffering this positive indirect effect; and (b) daily CCB had a positive indirect effect on next‐day proactive helping via increased OBSE, with LMX strengthening this positive indirect effect. These results suggest that employees' daily CCB has both costs (i.e., resource depletion) and benefits (i.e., positive self‐focused beliefs).

Aims
To examine the relationship among eHealth literacy, empowerment and self‐management and the mediating effects of empowerment in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) patients in the eHealthcare ...context.
Background
Self‐management is an essential aspect of healthcare in delaying disease progression for DKD. In the eHealthcare era, health services providing self‐management are transforming. The ability and confidence of patients to use eHealth services is a critical issue that impacts the effectiveness of self‐management, but little is known about the role of eHealth literacy and empowerment in self‐management.
Design
A cross‐sectional study guided by the STROBE.
Methods
Overall, 127 Taiwanese patients were enrolled using convenience sampling. Data collection used structured questionnaires and chart reviews. Multiple regression was used to infer self‐management predictors, and SPSS PROCESS macro and bootstrapping verified the mediating effects.
Results
Empowerment and eHealth literacy both showed significant positive correlations with self‐management. Empowerment was the main predictor of self‐management and had a complete mediating effect between eHealth literacy and self‐management.
Conclusion
Increasing patients' eHealth literacy can improve empowerment and prevent health inequality issues. Healthcare providers should consider improving patients' eHealth literacy to enhance their self‐management.

Healthcare service systems need to create user‐friendly eHealthcare environments, and healthcare professionals can provide multifaceted instructions that fit patients' eHealth literacy levels to enhance their motivation and confidence in disease care, thus cultivating positive self‐management behaviours.

The popularity of eHealthcare services aimed at promoting self‐management behaviours is increasing. However, the level of eHealth literacy is an essential factor that affects the effectiveness of self‐management in the healthcare environment. In addition, empowerment is a major critical influence factor of self‐management and a completely mediating variable between self‐management and eHealth literacy. Consequently, healthcare providers should consider promoting patients' eHealth literacy to empower people using eHealthcare services for implementing self‐management.

Patient or Public Contribution
Patients were diagnosed with DKD in the study hospital. Physicians and case managers transferred patients to research assistants who screened them for the inclusion criteria and invited them to participate in this study if they met the requirements. After participants signed informed consent, the research nurse encouraged participants to respond to the research questionnaire face to face.
This study aims to assess the metal fume exposure of welders and to determine exposure rates for similar exposure groups in a shipyard through the use of Near-field/Far-field (NF/FF) mathematical ...model and Bayesian decision analysis (BDA) technique. Emission rates of various metal fumes (i.e., total chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), and nickel (Ni)) were experimentally determined for the gas metal arc welding and flux cored arc welding processes, which are commonly used in shipyards. Then the NF/FF field model which used the emission rates were further validated by welding simulation experiment, and together with long-term operation condition data obtained from the investigated shipyard, the predicted long-term exposure concentrations of workers was established and used as the prior distribution in the BDA. Along with the field monitoring metal fume concentrations which served as the likelihood distribution, the posterior decision distributions in the BDA were determined and used to assess workers' long-term metal exposures. Results show that the predicted exposure concentrations (C
) and the field worker's exposure concentrations (C
) were statistically correlated, and the high R
(= 0.81-0.94) indicates that the proposed surrogate predicting method by the NF and FF model was adequate for predicting metal fume concentrations. The consistency in both prior and likelihood distributions suggests the resultant posterior would be more feasible to assess workers' long-term exposures. Welders' Fe, Mn and Pb exposures were found to exceed their corresponding action levels with a high probability (= 54%), indicating preventive measures should be taken immediately. The proposed approach provides a universal solution for conducting exposure assessment with usual limited number of personal exposure data.
