For the world's first Offshore Floating Dock(OFD), the dimension control system and method to aim at managing the dimension of offshore blocks in the process of erection are developed. This paper ...introduces the dimension control system and deals with the method of creating a simplified OFD model and of optimizing ballast-water plan to satisfy the demanded dimension of erected offshore plant blocks. A number of tests and successful application to the Jack & Saint Malo (JSM) offshore plant project was achieved and the results are also introduced.
Overlaying of Inconel on carbon steel base material is widely used in offshore and shipbuilding. The prediction of the overlay related deformation is important to accurately carry out this work with ...minimum loss and maximum profit. So, in this research, a detailed experimental study on the variation of the weld deposit and the HAZ area while overlay FCAW welding with carbon steel wire as well as Inconel wire on carbon steel plate was carried out and finally, with Inconel Strip to observe the material related and heat input related factor associated with overlay welding. Using this modified heat input and material related values as scale factor is applied to (Strain as Direct Boundary condition) SDB method which is presently applied for welding deformation analysis of large ship block in our shipyard. Based on this research outcome, the overlay welding related deformation was accurately predicted. By predicting the deformation accurately, optimum thickness (always above design thickness) of overlay could be applied and thus reduce the grinding related man-hour to a great extend in this process.
The poor quality of SiC/SiO2 interface significantly limits the channel mobility, especially in 4H-SiC MOSFETs. Several strategies have been addressed to overcome this issue. Nitridation by NO has ...been adopted widely by manufactures because nitrogen may replace carbon in some chemical bond at the SiC/SiO2 interface. However, excessive nitridation is not desirable because of pronounced hole-trapping effects near the conduction band. As an alternative gate dielectric, thin SiO2/deposited oxide stack has been investigated in 4H-SiC lateral nMOSFETs. Overall performances were reviewed in aspects of transfer/gm/reverse characteristics, charge pumping method and TLP characteristics.
(1) Background:
root is one of the most important herbal products, and the profiling of ginsenosides is critical for the quality control of ginseng roots at different ages in the herbal markets. ...Furthermore, interest in assessing the contents as well as the localization of biological compounds has been growing. The objective of this study is to carry out the mass spectrometry (MS)-based profiling and imaging of ginsenosides to assess ginseng roots at different ages; (2) Methods: Optimal ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole time of flight/MS (UPLC-QTOF/MS) was used to profile various ginsenosides from
roots. Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI)-time of flight (TOF)/MS-based imaging was also optimized to visualize ginsenosides in ginseng roots; (3) Results: UPLC-QTOF/MS was used to profile 30 ginsenosides with high mass accuracy, with an in-house library constructed for the fast and exact identification of ginsenosides. Using this method, the levels of 14 ginsenosides were assessed in
roots cultivated for 4, 5, and 6 years. The optimal MALDI-imaging MS (IMS) was also applied to visualize the 14 ginsenosides in ginseng roots. As a result, the MSI cross sections showed the localization of 4 ginsenoside ions (M + K⁺) in
roots at different ages; (4) Conclusions: The contents and localization of various ginsenosides differ depending on the cultivation years of
roots. Furthermore, this study demonstrated the utility of MS-based profiling and imaging of ginsenosides for the quality control of ginseng roots.
Objective: To investigate the synergistic effect between rhein (RHE) and oxacillin against Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at the gene level. Method: A minimum inhibitory concentration and checkerboard ...dilution test were conducted to evaluate antibacterial activity. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was conducted to investigate the gene expressions. Results: RHE exhibited a minimum inhibitory concentration of 62.5-250.0 μg/mL against various MRSA strains and the reference strain, respectively. As revealed by the checkerboard assay, a combination of RHE and oxacillin exhibited synergistic or partially synergistic effects against MRSA strains. RHE decreased the expressions of mecA/blaZ in a dose-dependent manner. RHE also decreased the expressions of the regulator genes mecI/blaI and mecR1/blaR1. Conclusions: We suggest that RHE affects the activity of mecR1/blaR1, which is located in the cell membrane of MRSA and results in the suppression of mecA/mecI/mecR1 and blaZ/blaI/ blaR1 gene expressions.
This study was performed with the goal of reducing environmental pollution caused by nano-particle materials. SiC whiskers were grown on a porous cordierite substrate to enhance its filtering ...efficiency, performance, and durability by controlling pore morphology. We investigated two different methods: SiC whisker growth (A) and SiC film coating after the SiC whisker growth (B). These experiments were performed using the chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) process to grow the whiskers in the inner pore without closing it. After a 1 h deposition at 1200 °C, the compressive strength of the whiskered porous cordierite body increased from 24 MPa to 60 MPa (250%) in experiment (A) and to 82 MPa (342%) in experiment (B). The mean pore size was reduced after whisker growth (A) as well as after additional film coating (B). The adhesion strength between the whiskers and the cordierite substrate increased with the additional film coating (B). Consequently, the separation of whiskers from the substrate was minimized. N

gas was injected and a permeability change was observed which explains the separation of the whiskers from the substrate. This method makes the filtration of nano-sized particles feasible.
This paper introduces Korean web accessibility activities, such as relational laws, ordinances, policies, guidelines. It also presents analytical result of the investigation on web-contents ...accessibilities of the 39 Korean government agencies. The result shows that only one agency provides web contents satisfying all the minimum requirements, while 97% of the agencies does not satisfy all the minimum requirements. Unfortunately, 6 agencies do not satisfy any.

In this paper, we discuss Korean Web Content Accessibility Guideline 1.0 (KWCAG 1.0) enacted in late 2004. KWCAG 1.0 consists of 14 checkpoints that are categorized into 4 principles, similar to ...WCAG2.0 working draft as of June 2003. Several Priority 1 checkpoints of W3C WCAG 1.0 and guidelines of Section 508 were not included in KWCAG 1.0, as they were not applicable to Korean circumstances, wherein fancy images and fantastic animation elements are widely used to design web pages.
Of late large scale automation is becoming a fast trend in shipyards. Especially in the construction of LNG carriers automation is becoming rather a must have necessity. This necessity hence brought ...in an idea to automate the ldquomarking processrdquo involved in construction of LNGC Tanks. Further, to make this idea a reality we have developed a ldquomobile robotrdquo which is capable of automating the ldquomarking processrdquo. For the localization of this self controlled ldquomobile robotrdquo we have used ldquoindoor GPSrdquo system which is a 3D measurement system. Using the above system and an accurate alignment module, ldquoline markingrdquo was achieved using the mobile robot. Also, Stud bolt preprocessing along with tank's wall surface flatness measurement is done using the ldquolaser sensorsrdquo fitted onto this robot. Hence, by using this robot to automate the ldquomarking processrdquo in the construction of LNGC Tanks we can definitely improve the accuracy in marking by reducing all possible human errors.
This study explores the relationship between financial firms' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities and their financial stability measured by Altman's Z-score. Based on a dataset of ...listed financial institutions in Korea, our results indicate a positive association between stability and ESG activities. Overall ESG scores and those for the individual environmental, social, and governance pillars potentially enhance financial stability. The environmental pillar plays the most significant role in improving the stability of financial firms. The positive association between ESG activities and financial firms' stability is also seen in nonbanking sectors.
