•ITER ICH&CD antenna beryllium faraday screen bars mock-ups were manufactured.•The mock-ups are submitted to high heat loads to test their heat exhaust capabilities.•The mock-ups withstand without ...damage the design limit load.•Lifetime is gradually reduced when the heat load is augmented beyond the design limit.•Thermal and mechanical behavior are reproducible, and coherent with the calculation.
The Faraday Screen (FS) is the plasma facing component of ITER ion cyclotron heating antennas shielding. The requirement for the high heat exhaust, and the limitation of the temperatures to minimize strain and thus offer sufficient resistance to fatigue, imply the need for high conductivity materials and a high cooling flow rate. The FS bars are constructed by a hipping process involving beryllium tiles, a pure copper layer, a copper chrome zirconium alloy for the cooling channel and a stainless steel backing strip. Two FS bars small scale mock-ups were manufactured and tested under high heat flux. They endured 15,000 heating cycles without degradation under nominal heat flux, and revealed growing flaws when the heat flux was progressively augmented beyond. In this case, the ultrasonic test confirms a strong delamination of the Be tiles.
Objectives: Summarize current excellent research and trends in the field of Health and Clinical management. Methods: Synopsis of the articles selected for the IMIA Yearbook 2015 Results: Three papers ...from international peer-reviewed journals have been selected for the Health and Clinical Management section. Conclusion: Telemedicine is still very active in Health and clinical management, but the new tendencies on which we focus this year were firstly the introduction of cloud for health data management, with some specific security problems, and secondly an emerging expectation of prioritization tools in health care Management.
This paper summarises the European R&D efforts for the manufacture of shield modules and divertor cassettes for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), including their plasma ...facing components. The various development steps are described as they had to be taken to resolve the fabrication issues, and to keep track with the evolving design requirements and solutions. For all components, the manufacturing feasibility has been demonstrated on prototype scale which puts Europe in the position to start the procurement as soon as the decision about ITER construction is taken. The time period remaining until then is used to optimise the fabrication processes and to develop more cost effective alternatives.
The aim of this paper is to present the results of a manufacturing program that was implemented to demonstrate the feasibility for manufacturing the primary first wall panels, including a part of R&D ...work concerning the joining of Beryllium plates onto a Glidcop heat sink by HIPing or brazing.
Objective: To summarize current excellent research and trends in the field of Health and Clinical management. Methods: Synopsis of the articles selected for the IMIA Yearbook 21014 Results: A ...comprehensive review of papers published in 2013 was performed by querying PubMed. 1079 were reviewed as papers without authors, without abstract or smaller than 4 pages were excluded from the selection. The editors reviewed all papers and 15 papers selected and provided to to international reviewers. Four papers from international peer-reviewed journals were finally selected for the Health and Clinical Management section. Conclusion: Many telemedicine applications are tested nowadays in medical situation, but the challenges emphasized by the best papers selection focus on the ability of proposing integrative frameworks for applications or data in order to handle efficiency of health and clinical management.
In the frame of the Primary Wall Module prototype manufacturing for ITER, a consistent R&D phase was conducted in order to identify the industrial allowable tolerances and manufacturing problems ...which would occur when joining pieces by HIPping process during the PW module manufacturing. The purpose of this development was to give as industrial as possible manufacturing routes for joining together large Stainless Steel or DS-Copper pieces with Stainless Steel tubes and for bonding Beryllium tiles onto a curved component surface. The study concerned surface preparations, allowable gaps and joint geometry, Beryllium tile geometry, Titanium interlayer thickness, … This R&D phase also allowed the development and validation of different ultrasonic inspection tools needed for plate-plate, tube-plate, edge to edge plate bonding.
In the frame of the Blanket development programme for ITER, the design envisaged a blanket-shield constructed from modules. Primary Wall Modules consisted of a water-cooled austenitic stainless steel ...(S.S.) Shield Block and a First Wall, as an integral part of it. The Primary First Wall uses a DS-copper alloy as the heat sink material bonded to the shield block and a protection material such as Beryllium, to cope with the plasma/wall interaction. The module was designed to sustain a peak heat flux of 0.5 MW/m super(2). A manufacturing program was implemented to demonstrate the feasibility for joining the Primary First Wall onto the Shield, which included the manufacture of small scale and medium scale mock-ups, before the manufacture of a prototype. The aim of the paper is to present the different steps and results of a Medium Scale Module manufacturing. copyright 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
