Abstract
Background
Antibiotic treatment decisions in severely ill patients must often be made in the absence of microbiologic results. The recently Food and Drug Administration–cleared BioFire ...FilmArray Pneumonia Panel (PN) detects 15 bacteria semiquantitatively, 3 atypical pneumonia bacteria, 8 viruses, and 7 antimicrobial resistance markers by multiplex PCR in ~1 hour in the laboratory. Previous reports have shown that the PN Panel bacterial detections are highly accurate, even when routine culture had no growth.
Methods
Consecutive bronchoalveolar lavage and endotracheal specimens submitted for culture between June and September 2018 from 270 patients with sufficient clinical and laboratory data were tested with the PN Panel. Patients were divided into 3 groups: (1) both culture and PN Panel positive, (2) PN Panel positive but culture uninformative (no growth or normal flora), and (3) patients with no PN Panel detections.
Results
Groups 1 and 2 had significantly higher maximum temperatures on the day of culture (P = .00036, analysis of variance ANOVA with Bonferroni correction), higher levels of an inflammatory response as measured by percent polymorphonuclear leukocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage (P = .00025, ANOVA with Bonferroni correction), and gram stain report of white blood cells, as previously reported 1.
Conclusions
Both group 1 (culture and PN Panel positive), and group 2 (PN Panel positive but culture uninformative) had higher levels of host response inflammatory responses compared with group 3, which had no targets detected, suggesting that PN Panel detections need to be interpreted in the clinical context, even if cultures are discordant. Depending on laboratory turnaround time, there could be opportunities for improved diagnosis and antibiotic stewardship.
The purpose of this paper is to identify a set of steps leading to an improved interface for LHCb's Nightly Builds Dashboard. The goal is to have an efficient application that meets the needs of both ...the project developers, by providing them with a user friendly interface, as well as those of the computing team supporting the system, by providing them with a dashboard allowing for better monitoring of the build job themselves. In line with what is already used by LHCb, the web interface has been implemented with the Flask Python framework for future maintainability and code clarity. The Database chosen to host the data is the schema-less CouchDB7, serving the purpose of flexibility in document form changes. To improve the user experience, we use JavaScript libraries such as JQuery11.

We live in an "age of accelerations," where the volume and velocity of change impact and affect every sector of our lives (personal, social, cultural, psychological and spiritual). No arena of our ...lives has proliferated as quickly or as thoroughly as the widespread collection and often re-sale of personal information by government and law enforcement agencies, global social media corporations, retail and e-commerce digital platforms, mobile telecommunications and smart infrastructure systems. We are constantly being surveilled and vast amounts of data about us are being abstracted, collected, digested, analyzed, reconfigured and processed through algorithms to determine our preferences, beliefs, hopes, and commercializable desires. David Lyon has defined surveillance as "any systematic and routine attention to personal details, whether specific or aggregate for a defined purpose. That purpose, the intention of the surveillance practice, may be to protect, understand, care for, ensure entitlement, control, manage or influence individuals or groups" (Lyon 2018: 3).
A book about Franciscans and their economics and the way that Franciscans are developing a more relational economy as they serve the poor and vulnerable around the world.Francis fraternal economy is ...not primarily about dollars and cents, market shares or stock derivatives. It is about the destiny of men and women in the real world and how they come about a new security and peace in God. By the time his captivity as a prisoner of war had come to an end, Francis had given up on the violence and greed that fed the frenzy of Assisi. He found his peace in mercy in the mercy that God had for him and in the mercy that he could show to those who were poor and suffering. Francis gave away everything he had and felt the first taste of freedom in his whole life. He had given up the need to climb and be right. He had let go of the desire to imitate majesty and control the world. He would never again have to go to war, because there was nothing that anyone else had that he wanted. There was nothing he had that he would not forfeit. He had Christ and Christ had him and that was enough for Francis to feel the peace that passes all understanding.
The LHCb software is based on the Gaudi framework, on top of which are built several large and complex software applications. As the LHCb experiment is now in the active phase of collecting and ...analyzing data, performance problems arise in various parts of the software, from the High Level Trigger (HLT) programs to data analysis frameworks. It is not easy to find hotspots in the code — only specialized tools can help to understand where CPU or memory usage are not reasonable. There exist many performance analyzing tools, but the main problem is that they show reports in terms of class and function names and such information usually is not very useful — the majority of algorithm developers use the Gaudi framework abstractions and usually do not know about functions which lie at the lower level. We will show a new approach which adds to performance reports a higher abstraction level based on knowledge of framework architecture and run-time object properties. A set of profiling tools (based on Intel® VTune™ Amplifier XE) and visualization interfaces has been developed and deployed.
We report the case of a 74-year-old woman admitted to the emergency unit for resting dyspnea. Clinical presentation, cardiac MRI and echocardiography were consistent with cardiac tamponade requiring ...emergency pericardiocentesis. Cytologic examination of the pericardial fluid revealed the presence of CD68

foamy histiocytes (Fig. 1). Additional investigations complied with the diagnosis of Erdheim-Chester histiocytosis. Treatment with αIFN was initiated but the patient developed severe neutropenia that contraindicated further administration. The detection of BRAF
mutation on histiocytes isolated from the pericardial liquid and CNS involvement (cerebral masses) prompted the administration of vemurafenib, a selective BRAF
kinase inhibitor. Four months after the initiation of low-dose vemurafenib, pericarditis almost resolved and cerebral masses decreased by 50% (Fig. 2). To our knowledge, analysis of pericardial fluid allowing the diagnosis of Erdheim-Chester disease and the detection of the BRAF
mutation has in fact been rarely described in the literature. This case report and the successful evolution under vemurafenib also support the use of BRAF
inhibitors in αIFN-intolerant patients with BRAF
mutation, particularly in case of heart and central nervous system involvement.

This volume collects papers originally presented at an innovative conference sponsored by the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University. That meeting brought cutting-edge academic research ...into dialogue with the experiences of those living in the Franciscan tradition as sisters, friars, and affiliated laity. Individual chapters now expand this conversation by presenting new research on Franciscan women in Europe and the Americas, with case studies ranging from the thirteenth to the twentieth centuries. Readers thus will find both focused analyses of individual women and communities, as well as essays that consider theological and pastoral applications from the historical evidence. It is the editors' hope that the volume can lay a foundation for future collaborations.
