The sales and use of electric vehicles (EVs) have been growing in recent times in Europe, with the hopes of mitigating CO2 emissions and enabling more sustainable transportation. Considering the growth of the EV market, the main goal of this research is to shed light on what drives electric vehicles' satisfaction and continuance intention. We collected data from 290 EV drivers in Europe. Grounded in the task-technology fit model and expectation-confirmation theory, we explained 22 % and 40 % of the variance in EV satisfaction and continuance intention, with green self-identity as a moderator. EV satisfaction and continuance intention are primarily driven by adequate infrastructure and environmental concerns.
This paper assesses the digital divide between and within the 28 member-states of the European Union. The analysis comprised four socio-demographic contexts: age, education, gender, and income. ...Because of the digital divide’s complexity, a multivariate approach was applied - factor analysis with oblique rotation, which resulted in two distinct dimensions: e-Services and Social Networks. To test the significant differences of European Union positioning and European Union disparities, Multivariate Analysis of Variance and Squared Rank Test were computed. Findings show that e-Services adoption is influenced primarily by the education level of individuals, while Social Networks adoption is more affected by individuals’ age.
This paper analyzes the digital development of 110 countries and its relationship with economic development. Using factor analysis, we combined seven ICT-related variables into a single measure of ...digital development. This measure was then used as the dependent variable in an OLS model that allows non-linear effects, with the GDP per capita of countries as the explanatory variable. Our findings are substantive in that the correlation between economic and digital development was found to be not linear, being much stronger in poorer countries, a finding not commonly seen in the literature. As a result, future studies that focus on the relationship between economic and digital developments may benefit from our findings, by postulating this type of relationship. In our model we were able to explain 83 % of the variation in the digital development of countries, compared to just 72 % if considering only a linear relationship.
Online citizen public participation in consultation and decision-oriented processes supported by local governments is a key ingredient for successful digital democracy. As the participatory process ...is a voluntary activity, social capital, and individual motivation can help to understand citizen engagement in the usage of electronic participatory platforms (e-participation). This study presents and discusses the results of a research model evaluated with 200 respondents who experienced e-participation. The research model integrates a well-known theory of information systems, UTAUT, with the social capital theory, and the individual motivators. We found that, besides the positive effects of UTAUT constructs, such as perceived usefulness, effort expectancy, and facilitating conditions on the intention to use e-participation; altruism also plays a role as a driver of the intention to use. Social capital partially impacts on the actual usage of e-participation.
•Social capital in the community plays a key role for the adoption of e-participation.•Males are more willing than females to increase their actual usage of e-participation.•Social influence, reputation, and reciprocity were not significant for e-participation usage at city level.•Local governments should promote how e-participation brings benefits for the community.•Local government should highlight and praise the effort devoted by participants.

Despite the considerable benefits of CRM, there is a paucity of research considering CRM adoption stages (evaluation, adoption, and routinization). Thus, we developed a conceptual model using the technology-organisation-environment (TOE) framework to examine the antecedents that affect CRM adoption stages in firms. We used partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) with data from 277 firms to test the conceptual model. Data quality and integration, top management support and competitive pressure positively influence CRM evaluation. Technology competence, data quality and integration, top management support and CRM evaluation positively influence CRM adoption. However competitive pressure negatively affects CRM adoption. Finally, competitive pressure and CRM adoption positively influence CRM routinization. Interestingly, each included construct influences every CRM adoption stage differently.

Industry 4.0 is a concept that represents the adoption by industrial companies of techniques and processes allowed by digitization, cloud computing, the internet of things and big data to gain competitive advantages in domestic and global markets. Measuring how the manufacturing sector is adopting Industry 4.0 is challenging, given that there is not a closed definition of the term and that the collection of information is not specifically directed to Industry 4.0 concepts. Recognizing these difficulties, the present study measures the presence of the factors that characterize Industry 4.0 in manufacturing across EU countries. The analysis provides evidence that the existence of a digital infrastructure combined with the analytical capabilities to deal with big data emerge as the two dimensions that show the readiness for Industry 4.0 in each country. At EU level, five homogeneous groups of countries were found, showing large disparities across countries. The implementation of the single digital market strategy with regard to the manufacturing sector demands the collection of more detailed information on Industry 4.0.
Digital divide, the differential in access and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) represents an obstacle to the information society. This study proposes a new theoretical model ...based on the extended unified theory of acceptance, and use of technology (UTAUT2), Schwartz's basic values and ICT skills to explore the role of values on ICT acceptance and, examine how these factors explain the digital divide. The research model was tested in the context of a sub-Saharan country (Angola). Empirical results suggest that ICT use is mainly influenced by habit, ICT skills, and benevolence.

Our research analyses the digital divide within the European Union 27 between the years of 2008 and 2010. To accomplish this we use multivariate statistical methods, more specifically factor and ...cluster analysis, to address the European digital disparities. Our results lead to an identification of two latent dimensions and five groups of countries. We conclude that a digital gap does, in fact, exist within the European Union. The process of European integration and the economic wealth emerge as explanatory factors for this divide. On the other hand, the educational attendance is not proven to be significant, as one would expect.
This study explores the contribution of various drivers of attainment in secondary education in Portugal. We propose a model explaining the influence of students, teachers, and parents' traits on ...high school achievement, measured by the self-reported Math and Portuguese final grades of 220 students. Using PLS-SEM, we show that previous achievement predicts current achievement in both subjects; however, noteworthy differences were found. Portuguese grades are significantly better for students whose parents have post-secondary education and communicate higher expectations about their offspring's school careers. At the same time, Math achievement is influenced by students' perception of teachers' involvement but not by parents' expectations or education. Previous retention and receiving educational allowance impair Math achievement, but not Portuguese. Results and implications are discussed.
