This paper proposes a solution for bipolar measurement of ECG (electrocardiogram) signals between two skin electrodes placed on the patient's chest. It provides an introduction to the origin of ...biosignals in the human body, as well as the heart's conduction system and electrical activity. ECG signal formation and characteristics are explained briefly. The paper covers elementary building blocks of a typical system for biosignal measurements, focusing on the design of biosignal amplifiers. A practical solution is designed using discreet components connected on a breadboard for analog processing and an Arduino Uno board for signal acquisition. A Python script was developed to additionally filter, save and visualize obtained data. Results are presented for two examinees in order to verify the solution.

Finding a range that contains all the eigenvalues of a certain matrix is extremely important for giving insight into the behaviour of evolving systems governed by linear equations. One such range, ...which is particularly well-known, is the Gersgorin set. Although Gersgorm theorem is very simple and elegant, it hides a trap for misinterpretation, which has already happened in different application areas. The aim of this paper is to inform potential users of the Gersgorin theorem about common pitfalls of its inadequate interpretation, explain one such situation where a misinterpretation produced results which are not correct in general, in order to provide an alternative (but correct) analysis and open a path for a future extension of this interesting topic.

The influence of the mobile phone position on the electromagnetic field distribution inside the biological tissues of the user's head is discussed in the paper. The case of voice transmission was ...simulated at the frequency of 0.8 GHz. Numerical models of a child's head and a smartphone have been used. The distribution of the magnetic field within user's head tissues for different positions of the mobile phone is considered.
It is well-known that theory of pseudospectra has many important theoretical and practical applications, (for example, robust stability, transient behavior, nonnormal dynamics). It is also well-known ...that computational methods for pseudospectra determination are very costly for large matrices. Hence, it is necessary to find good, but relatively cheap, pseudospectra localizations. In this paper we derive some new pseudospectra localization sets, and compare them with the known ones, using relevant numerical examples arising in applications in ecology and vibration analysis. The new sets keep numerical complexity of the Pseudo-Geršgorin localization sets, but produce tighter results that can be compared to much more numerically complex localizations such as Pseudo-Brauer sets and Pseudo-CKV sets.

In this paper, we investigate fixed points of mappings of Perov type for w-cone distance. Many results of Ćiric, Lakzian and Rakočević, Suzuki and Takahashi, Abbas and Rhoades, Pathak and Shahzad and ...Raja and Veazpour are generalized. Our results could not be obtained by Du’s scalarization method because, in our case, contractive constant is replaced by an operator.
In this article, a generalization of a known result about the subdirect sum of two S-SDD (strictly diagonally dominant) matrices is obtained for Σ-SDD matrices. The class of Σ-SDD matrices is a ...generalization of S-SDD matrices, and it is also a subclass of H-matrices. More precisely, the question of when the subdirect sum and, consequently, the usual sum of two Σ-SDD matrices is an Σ-SDD matrix is studied.
This paper aims to predict overhydration in the hemodialysis process using Artificial Neural Network. Dehydration has negative impacts on both physical and mental health, as is well-known. ...Overhydration's possible negative effects are, however, less known. A balanced state of the fluid in the body represents the essence of hemodialysis therapy. The prediction of volume-related adverse events has shown potential when using machine learning techniques. Several factors could influence overhydration, such as weight, blood pressure, lean tissue index, fat tissue index, body mass index, total body water, extracellular water, adipose tissue mass, body cell mass, and bioimpedance. The objective is to use an artificial neural network to estimate overhydration more accurately than current methods, which rely on measurable factors and the physician's judgment. The training and testing processes are explained, as well as the development of the artificial network model. The model achieved satisfactory results.
The parallel decomposition-type relaxation methods for solving large sparse systems of linear equations on SIMD multiprocessor systems have been proposed in 3 and 2. In case when the coefficient ...matrix of the linear system is a block -matrix, sufficient conditions for the convergence of methods given in 2, 3 have been further improved in 5 and 4. From the practical point of view, the convergence area obtained there is not always suitable for computation, so we propose new, easily computable ones, for some special subclasses of block -matrices. Furthermore, this approach improves the already known convergence area for the class of block strictly diagonally dominant (SDD) matrices.
Perov used the concept of vector valued metric space and obtained a Banach type fixed point theorem on such a complete generalized metric space. In this article, we study fixed point results for the ...new extensions of sequence of Ćirić generalized contractions on cone metric space, and we give some generalized versions of the fixed point theorem of Perov. The theory is illustrated with some examples. It is worth mentioning that the main result in this paper could not be derived from Ćirić’s result by the scalarization method, and hence indeed improves many recent results in cone metric spaces.
