The EAS Cherenkov light array Tunka-133, with ~3km2 geometric area, is taking data since 2009. The array permits a detailed study of cosmic ray energy spectrum and mass composition in the PeV energy ...range. After a short description of the methods of EAS parameter reconstruction, we present the all-particle energy spectrum and results of studying CR composition, based on 3 seasons of array operation. In the last part of the paper, we discuss possible interpretations of the obtained results.

A new EAS Cherenkov light array, Tunka-133, with ∼1km2 geometrical area has been installed at the Tunka Valley (50km from Lake Baikal) in 2009. The array permits a detailed study of cosmic ray energy ...spectrum and mass composition in the energy range 1016–1018eV with a uniform method. We describe the array construction, DAQ and methods of the array calibration. The method of energy reconstruction and absolute calibration of measurements are discussed. The analysis of spatial and time structure of EAS Cherenkov light allows to estimate the depth of the EAS maximum Xmax.
The results on the all particles energy spectrum and the mean depth of the EAS maximum Xmax vs. primary energy derived from the data of two winter seasons (2009–2011) are presented. Preliminary results of joint operation of the Cherenkov array with antennas for the detection of EAS radio signals are shown. Plans for future upgrades – deployment of remote clusters, radioantennas and a scintillator detector network and a prototype of the HiSCORE gamma-telescope – are discussed.
The study of the cosmic ray mass composition in the energy range 1016 - 1018 eV is one of the main aims of Tunka-133. This EAS Cherenkov array started data acquisition in the Tunka Valley (50 km from ...Lake Baikal) in autumn 2009. Tunka-133 provides a measurement of the EAS maximum depth (Xmax) with an accuracy of about 30 g/cm2. Further mass composition analyses at the highest energies (1017 - 1018 eV) will be based on the comparison of primary energy measured by the radio method and the densities of charged particles measured by shielded and unshielded detectors. The high duty cycle of the common operation of the new scintillation array (Tunka-Grande) and the radio extension of the experiment (Tunka-REX) will provide a high statistics of events.

The paper is devoted to the modeling and analysis of data detected by the TAIGA-IACT installation in the stereo mode. Five Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACT) with a viewing angle of ...9.6° are expected to be included in the installation. Today there are three telescopes spaced far apart (from 320 to 500 m) in the installation. The effective area of the installation is as large as 0.6 km

; therefore, it is possible to conduct statistically significant measurements of weak γ-ray sources in the energy range above 10 TeV over a reasonable observation time (300–400 h). The Monte Carlo procedure for simulating the hadrons and γ-rays detected by the telescopes is described as is the procedure for reconstructing the parameters of extensive air showers, such as the arrival direction of an event, the axis position, the depth of the maximum of shower development (

), and the primary-particle energy. In order to solve the problem of γ-hadron separation, the criteria for selecting γ-rays detected in the stereo mode have been optimized and the effective area of the installation has been calculated.

sensitive area at Tunka Valley, Siberia, for measuring charged particles and muons in extensive air showers (EASs). ...Tunka-Grande is optimized for cosmic ray studies in the energy range 10 PeV to about 1 EeV, where exploring the composition is of fundamental importance for understanding the transition from galactic to extragalactic origin of cosmic rays. This paper attempts to provide a synopsis of the current results of the experiment. In particular, the reconstruction of the all-particle energy spectrum in the range of 10 PeV to 1 EeV based on experimental data from four observation seasons is presented.
The physical motivations, present status, main results in study of cosmic rays and in the field of gamma-ray astronomy as well future plans of the TAIGA-1 (Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic ray ...physics and Gamma Astronomy) project are presented. The TAIGA observatory addresses ground-based gamma-ray astronomy and astroparticle physics at energies from a few TeV to several PeV, as well as cosmic ray physics from 100 TeV to several EeV. The pilot TAIGA-1 complex is located in the Tunka valley, ~50 km west from the southern tip of the lake Baikal.

An innovative approach based on the effect of bio-mineralization as a response reaction of cells to decrease their damage under stress was applied to Juniperus communis (JC) and JC-based biomaterials ...(Nefrovil and Immunostan drugs with properties increasing the antioxidant activity and improving the immune system of human organism, respectively). Electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR), also called electron spin resonance (ESR), was used as the main experimental tool for detecting paramagnetic species resulted from the existence of antioxidant activity system, represented by superoxide dismutase with manganese, catalase etc., as well as formation of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs). The influence of temperature and microwave power on the intensity of EPR signals detected in JC, Nefrovil and Immunostan was examined. Obtained g-factor values of EPR signals from JC shell and seeds as well as from Nefrovil and Immunostan were attributed to the paramagnetic species of Mn (g = 2.0), Fe3O4 SPIONs (g = 2.17…2.60), Fe aggregates (g = 3.22…3.94) and Fe3+ ions (g = 4.3). The EPR signals from SPIONs and Fe3+ ions in Immunostan were found to be fully correlated, showing an additional experimental evidence of the bio-mineralization effect (i.e., transformation of Fe3+ ions to Fe3O4 SPIONs). The results of the EPR study of Fe3O4 SPIONs incorporated into polymer matrix were taken into account in comparative analysis. The results reported in the present work support well self-organization of magnetic nanoparticles in the investigated biomaterials.

We present physical motivations and advantages of the new gamma-observatory TAIGA (Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic ray physics and gamma-ray astronomy). TAIGA will be located in the Tunka ...valley, 50km to the west of Lake Baikal, at the same place as the integrating air Cherenkov detector for cosmic rays Tunka-133. The TAIGA array is a complex, hybrid detector for ground-based gamma-ray astronomy for energies from a few TeV to several PeV as well as for cosmic ray studies from 100TeV to several EeV. The array will consist of a wide angle Cherenkov array – TAIGA-HiSCORE with 5km2 area, a net of 16 IACT telescopes (with FOV of about 9.72°×9.72°) as well as muon and other detectors. We present the current status of the array construction.
