The NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS reports the first search for K+→π+νν¯ using the decay-in-flight technique, based on a sample of 1.21×1011K+ decays collected in 2016. The single event sensitivity ...is 3.15×10−10, corresponding to 0.267 Standard Model events. One signal candidate is observed while the expected background is 0.152 events. This leads to an upper limit of 14×10−10 on the K+→π+νν¯ branching ratio at 95% CL.
We report on the observation of a KSp resonance signal at a mass of 1765 ± 5 MeV/c2, with intrinsic width Γ = 108 ± 22 MeV/c2, produced inclusively in Σ--nucleus interactions at 340 GeV/c in the ...hyperon beam experiment WA89 at CERN. The signal was observed in the kinematic region xF>0.7, in this region its production cross section rises approximately linearly with (1-xF), reaching BR(X→KSp)dσ/dxF=(5.2±2.3)μb per nucleon at xF=0.8. The hard xF spectrum suggests the presence of a strong leading particle effect in the production and hence the identification as a Σ*+ state. No corresponding peaks were observed in the K-p and Λπ± mass spectra.

A precision test of lepton flavour universality has been performed by measuring the ratio RK of kaon leptonic decay rates K+→e+ν and K+→μ+ν in a sample of 59 813 reconstructed K+→e+ν candidates with ...(8.71±0.24)% background contamination. The result RK=(2.487±0.013)×10−5 is in agreement with the Standard Model expectation.

Abstract A sample of 1.3 × 105 K + → π 0 e + νγ candidates with less than 1% background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017–2018. Branching fraction measurements are obtained ...at percent relative precision in three restricted kinematic regions, improving on existing results by a factor larger than two. An asymmetry, possibly related to T-violation, is investigated with no evidence observed within the achieved precision.
The NA62 experiment recorded a large sample of K+→μ+νμ decays in 2007. A peak search has been performed in the reconstructed missing mass spectrum. In the absence of a signal, limits in the range ...2×10−6 to 10−5 have been set on the squared mixing matrix element |Uμ4|2 between muon and heavy neutrino states, for heavy neutrino masses in the range 300–375 MeV/c2. The result extends the range of masses for which upper limits have been set on the value of |Uμ4|2 in previous production search experiments.
The NA62 experiment collected a large sample of charged kaon decays in 2007 with a highly efficient trigger for decays into electrons. A measurement of the π0 electromagnetic transition form factor ...slope parameter from 1.11×106 fully reconstructed K±→π±πD0, πD0→e+e−γ events is reported. The measured value a=(3.68±0.57)×10−2 is in good agreement with theoretical expectations and previous measurements, and represents the most precise experimental determination of the slope in the time-like momentum transfer region.
We report the measurement of the one-dimensional charged kaon correlation functions using 600GeV/cΣ−, π− and 540GeV/cp beams from the SELEX (E781) experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. K±K± ...correlation functions are studied for three transverse pair momentum, kT, ranges and parameterized by a Gaussian form. The emission source radii, R, and the correlation strength, λ, are extracted. The analysis shows a decrease of the source radii with increasing kaon transverse pair momentum for all beam types.

A RICH detector was used during the 1996/7 fixed target run at Fermilab in experiment E781 — SELEX. The detector utilizes a matrix of 2848 phototubes for the photocathode. The figure of merit,
N
0, ...has been measured to be in excess of 100
cm
−1. The ring radius resolution for multitrack events has been measured to be 1.8
mm, which gives K/π separation on a 2
σ level up to a momentum of 165
GeV/
c, and p/π separation up to 320
GeV/
c. We will describe the design of the detector, discuss the stability during operation, and report on achieved results
