We described some experimental models that were performed in rabbits and in swine in order to evaluate the efficacy of haemoperfusion treatment in hypochloremic alkalosis, uraemia and cytotoxic drug ...poisoning. In all the models, an extracorporeal circuit was used constituted mainly by a hematic sampling line and a cartridge, containing an anion exchange resin. Access to the blood stream was achieved by isolation and catheterization of the vessels either of the neck or of the leg, or both. The experimental model for the evaluation of haemoperfusion in hypochloremic alkalosis was carried out in rabbits by a pyloric stenosis because its size and weight are similar to new-born humans and its stomach is a simple monogastric one. The hypochloremia and alkalosis were achieved in only 4 hours. The other two experimental models were carried out in pigs because, in these cases, it was better to choose a large size animal with a nutritional similarity to humans, and with the capability to produce a stable chronic renal failure. The pigs were submitted to a bilateral ureter ligature to create a chronic renal failure or to a bilateral renal vessel ligature to avoid the physiologic precipitation of some drugs in renal tubules.
The present study has been carried out by Italy - Tanzania Technical and Scientific Cooperation Programme agreed by the Protocol signed in Dar es Salaam on 7 June 1978. From 1978 to 1982 the authors ...stayed for long periods at the Agricultural Research Institute of Naliendele and at the Agricultural Sub-station of Nachingwea. After some general considerations about the most important studies carried out on cashew over 4 years and an analysis of cashew cultivation in Tanzania, the collections of Naliendele and Nachingwea are described. These two collections are valuable genetic material that can be used for cashew productive reconversion in Tanzania. Cashew production is actually going down every year in Tanzania, therefore a long reconversion plan should be realized. For this purpose selected genetic material should be utilized, and particularly the selected clones described in chapter 4. At the end of the present study the most important elements that will be necessary for planning the mentioned productive reconversion are explained.
ITALIANO: Lo studio che presentiamo e stato eseguito nell'ambito del Programma di Cooperazione Scientifica e Tecnica attuato in base al Protocollo Italo-Tanzano del 7 giugno 1978. E' stato svolto tra il 1978 e il 1982 e gli autori hanno trascorso lunghi periodi di permanenza presso l'Agricultural Research Institute di Naliendele e presso l'Agricultural Sub-station di Nachingwea. Dopo alcune considerazioni generali concernenti i principali studi eseguiti sull'Anacardio e la presentazione di osservazioni sullo stato di questa coltura in Tanzania, si descrivono le collezioni di Nachingwea e di Naliendele. Queste due collezioni costituiscono un prezioso materiale genetico che potrebbe essere valorizzato ai fini della riconversione produttiva dell'anacardicoltura in Tanzania. Questa e attualmente oggetto di una grave crisi a fronte della quale occurrera realizzare un piano di riconversione produttiva di lungo periodo. A tal fine andrebbe utilizzato il materiale genetico e piu particolarmente i cloni selezionati che sono descritti nel capitolo 4. Il lavoro e chiuso con alcune considerazioni conclusive che evidenziano elementi assai importanti per la redazione del menzionato piano di riconversione.
The administration of high doses of Methotrexate (HDMTX) seems to be very effective in neoplastic treatment. Furthermore high doses of the drug could overcome the Methotrexate (MTX) resistance that ...it is possible to observe in some kind of cancers. To avoid several serious problems in the therapeutical application of HDMTX such as nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity and the difficulty to assess the right therapeutic range of the specific antagonist Leucovorin, a Haemoperfusion (HP) treatment could be very usefulL. In this study 3 anion exchange resins with different active group (trimethylammonium, dimethylethanolammonium and dimethylammina) and a spherical petroleum based charcoal were tested both in vitro and ex vivo to evaluate their capability to remove MTX. These results show a good strength and biocompatibility of the 4 sorbents and demonstrate the active group trimethylammonium resin as the most effective one.

The relationship between HP and haemodynamic changes is an area which until now has been largely uninvestigated as can be seen from the small amount of material published on this theme. The reasons ...for this indifference are mainly due to the low extracorporeal flow using during HP. The experiment with a new sorbent on animals must also be analyzed in cardiovascular aspects. This system is the most economical and simple for detecting the elution of vasoactive toxins. In this report the effect on the cardiovascular system of HDMTX and HP with a new trimethylammonium exchange resin versus control groups are evaluated. The results obtained clearly demonstrate the absence of haemodynamic side effects in both groups.
In 1998-1999, two trials evaluating new insecticides for the control of the second generation of Lobesia botrana were carried out on grapevine (cv. "Trebbiano romagnolo") and growing systems (Casarsa ...and GDC). In the trials, new insecticides (spinosad, methoxifenozide, indoxacarb and chlorpyrifos wg) were compared with others (tebufenozide, flufenoxuron and lufenuron) included in the Emilia-Romagna guidelines for integrated production. Besides, some Bt-based products (Agree, BTK 32, BIT0001, Co- Star) were also evaluated. Trial in 1998 showed that all the chemicals significantly reduced the damages. Indoxacarb showed the best efficacy (96.7%) followed by flufenoxuron (91.2%), lufenuron (89.6%) and tebufenozide (77.1%). Two applications with microbiological products gave similar results (80.8% for Agree and 79.2% for BIT0001). In 1999 also, all the chemicals showed a good pest control. Methoxifenozide proved to be the most effective (99.9%) followed by flufenoxuron (99.4%), indoxacarb (97.3%), tebufenozide (89.6%), spinosad (90.8%), chlorpyrifos (82.8%) and lufenuron (82.6). As in 1999, two applications with microbiological products gave interesting results (98.8% for BTK 32 and 97.9% for Co -Star)
