Lipid nanoparticles have been used for carrying different therapeutic agents because of the advantage in improved absorption, bioavailability, targeted deliveries and reduction in the quantity of drugs required. The aim of the study was to prepare and characterize nanoliposomes containing thiamine hydrochloride and study their physicochemical stability as this vitamin is highly unstable. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) was used as an edible encapsulant. The average size of nanoliposomes was found to be 150nm and zeta potential was −34mV. The encapsulation efficiency was 97%. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed the size, spherical nature and smooth surface of the nanoliposomes. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) evidenced that the nanoliposomes were stable up to 300°C. The functional groups present were determined by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and the presence of vitamin was confirmed in final formulation by biochemical analysis. The crystalline nature of thiamine was analyzed by X-ray diffraction studies. Storage studies indicated that the nanoliposomes were highly stable up to 3months at different temperatures. Thus, phosphatidylcholine can be used as carrier vehicle of nutrients especially vitamins, as it can form stable nanoliposomes with 97% encapsulation efficiency.

However, when compared with respect to individual pH, drug release in pH 7.4 PBS was quite minimal when compared to pH 5.5 and 6.8. The cytotoxicity of 5-FU-PNA Ng's increased with decrease in pH value. Additionally they could extend
in vivo
circulation time and displayed effective anti-cancer efficacy when compared to 5-FU injection for the same. Our results documented enhanced anti-cancer efficacy and mean life span in EAC bearing mice.

Myocardial infarction is one of the highest confronting metabolic syndromes which cause morbidity and mortality across the world. Recently, the renewed interests in medicinal plants have certain ...preventive action in treatment of cardiovascular disorder. The aim of the study was to investigate the cardio protective effects of Solanum nigrum Linn (hydro alcoholic extract) in isoproterenol induced myocardial infarction. The extracts were investigated for in vivo cardio protective activity; the rats were pre treated with hydro alcoholic extract (75mg, 150mg and 300mg) for a period of 21 days. Standard drug (carvedilol - 2mg/kg) was used to compare the results with various parameters like bodyweight, ECG, heart weight, serum parameters and enzyme estimation. The rats fed with extracts showed dose dependent cardio protective activity. Isoproterenol treated animals showed a marked increase in serum marker enzymes such as CK-MB, LDH, cholesterol, triglycerides, SGOT, SGPT. It was also observed that there was substantial increase in heart and body weight along with endogenous enzyme levels of LPO. There was significant decrease in levels of SOD, CAT and GSH. Treatment group significantly reduced the effects of isoproterenol induced myocardial infarction. Solanum nigrum hydro alcoholic extract treated groups possess cardio protective effect against isoproterenol induced myocardial infarction.
The aim of the present study was to synthesize silver nanoparticles using spice extracts as reducing agents and further evaluate their anti-microbial activities. Silver has been shown to possess ...antimicrobial activity. The silver nanoparticles were prepared by solvent evaporation method. The silver nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The functional groups present in the phyto-constituents on the plant extract were determined by FT-IR studies. The particle size of the silver nanoparticles was determined by Dynamic Light Scattering and was found to be 143, 50 and 56 nm for cloves, cinnamon and neem silver nanoparticles respectively. They exhibited antibacterial property against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi strains, tested using Well Diffusion method. Plant extracts however reduce the antimicrobial activity of the nanoparticles. In conclusion, antimicrobial activities of silver nanoparticles were reduced by plant extracts certifies vital potential in biomedical application.
