Aktualna kriza uzrokovana virusom SARS-CoV-2 te posljedične mjere ograničavanja okupljanja, odgađanja javnih nastupa te zatvaranje kulturnih institucija snažno su pogodili sektor izvedbenih ...umjetnosti. Koncerti, kazalište i ples podrazumijevaju okupljanje velikog broja ljudi, tj. mogućnost kolektivnog uživanja u umjetničkim djelima.
Today's tourism is experiencing continuous growth caused by constant changes and the development of tourist needs. The reason for this is adapting to the needs and new demands of contemporary ...tourists who want to participate in every activity and learn about other cultures, ways of life and art practices. Creativity has always been a strong engine of human activities. In the areas of low socioeconomic status, its role is even more important for developing a life standard of rural area habitants. Creative tourism considers active participation in local creative activities, such as gastronomy workshops, harvests, learning traditional dances, songs and many more cultural elements. In order to keep a traditional lifestyle and keeping locals in their motherland, new management models should be brought together, including various sectors: tourism, culture, ethnology, spatial planning and agronomy. In a dynamic tourist market, with small investments, it is possible to create a competitive advantage based on the authenticity of a particular destination. This article presents a managing model on the example of Etnoland Dalmati at the hinterland of Dalmatia, Croatia, and the changes that have been made in that area.

•Fertilisation combined with AMF affected the composition and quality of tomato fruits.•AMF increased nitrogen, manganese, and hydrophilic phenol content in tomato fruits.•Interaction ...between fertilisation and AMF application modified tomato fruit volatiles.•The effect of AMF inoculation might depend on native AMF and environmental conditions.
The effects of different fertilisation treatments with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculation on AMF root colonisation, fruit yield, nutrient and total phenol contents, volatile compound composition, and sensory attributes of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) were investigated. Mineral, organic, and mineral + organic fertiliser application positively affected tomato yield (35%–50%) and phosphorus concentration (24%–29%) compared with controls. AMF application had a significant impact on the total nitrogen (+9%), manganese (+12%), and hydrophilic phenol (+8%) contents in the fruit. Volatile compounds were affected by the interactive effects of fertilisation and AMF application. The response of tomato fruit sensory quality indicators was relatively modest, with only a few sensory characteristics affected to a lesser extent. Although tomato showed susceptibility to field-native AMF, particular combinations of fertilisation and AMF inoculation were more effective at improving the quality parameters of tomatoes under field conditions applied in this study.
It is not yet clear how adding silicon foliar fertilisation affects olive leaf (OL) phenolics and their potential to impact different cancer cells. Thus, we conducted a field trial to study the ...effect of foliar Si biostimulant fertilisation on the OL phenolic content of the ‘Leccino’ (LE) and ‘Istarska Bjelica’ (IB) cultivars. The experiment compared untreated Control (C) and three distinct levels of silicon (Si1, Si2, Si3) with Si concentrations of 0.55 g/L, 1.1 g/L, and 2.2 g/L, respectively. Si3 application resulted in the highest levels of oleuropein, apigenin-7-O-glucoside, luteolin-4-O-glucoside, rutin, and tyrosol compared to the C treatment. The polyphenols showed high cytotoxic activity in three cancer cell lines tested: cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa), colon cancer (HCT116), and osteosarcoma (U2OS). The strongest inhibition of cell growth was observed in the HCT116 cell line. All cancer cells tested were more sensitive to treatment with polyphenols isolated from plants with added Si than those without added Si. The cytotoxic activity of the extracts on the healthy cell line RPE1 was similar to that on the cancer cell line HCT116 and U2OS.
Non-native pests, climate change, and their interactions are likely to alter relationships between trees and tree-associated organisms with consequences for forest health. To understand and predict ...such changes, factors structuring tree-associated communities need to be determined. Here, we analysed the data consisting of records of insects and fungi collected from dormant twigs from 155 tree species at 51 botanical gardens or arboreta in 32 countries. Generalized dissimilarity models revealed similar relative importance of studied climatic, host-related and geographic factors on differences in tree-associated communities. Mean annual temperature, phylogenetic distance between hosts and geographic distance between locations were the major drivers of dissimilarities. The increasing importance of high temperatures on differences in studied communities indicate that climate change could affect tree-associated organisms directly and indirectly through host range shifts. Insect and fungal communities were more similar between closely related vs. distant hosts suggesting that host range shifts may facilitate the emergence of new pests. Moreover, dissimilarities among tree-associated communities increased with geographic distance indicating that human-mediated transport may serve as a pathway of the introductions of new pests. The results of this study highlight the need to limit the establishment of tree pests and increase the resilience of forest ecosystems to changes in climate.
•1-year old olive plantlets were sprayed with boron (B+) against untreated control.•After 90 days B+ old leaves had higher oleuropein and total phenol concentration.•Young leaves had notably higher ...secoiridoid concentrations after B+ treatment.•B+ leaves infusion had higher concentration of certain terpenes and norisoprenoids.•These results may give a new perspective in biochemical farming practice.
The present study investigated the effect of boron (B) foliar application on the dynamic changes in the concentration of phenols, especially oleuropein, and volatile compounds of olive leaves during a 90-day period. The trial was conducted in a greenhouse on one year old olive plantlets, sprayed with B at 41.62 mM against a water treated control. It was revealed that total phenols and oleuropein concentration in old and in young olive leaves increased in B treated leaves 90 days after application. Furthermore, B enhanced the concentration of particular terpene and norisoprenoid volatiles in olive leaf infusion. The obtained results may give a new perspective in biochemical farming practice, with a possibility to increase the amounts of phenols and terpenes in olive leaves intended for medical uses, and to enhance olive plant resistance to pathogens and insects.
