Postmodernist ethnographic methods are used to analyze construction of the USA Today Television Show, broadcast on US TV 1988-1990. After initial rejection by critics & other viewers, the producers ...of the show deployed the customary technologies by which social worlds are remade: deletion, supplementation, deformation, ordering, composition, weighting, & division. Among the resulting effects were decentered speech, excessive speed, & decontextualization, all of which the producers attempted to minimize in the later months by simulating other "infotainment" programs. 43 References.
