The volume brings together 32 writings about books that shaped me, opened my horizon and enriched me spiritually.I tried to structure my texts according to some topics. The chapter entitled "Recent ...Histories" brings together presentations of books of history, Romanian philosophy, philosophy of culture, interwar history, Holocaust - topics I have dealt with mainly in recent years. "Beyond India" brings together severeal writings about the many books dedicated to India - its history, philosophy, religion and culture - or Orientalism, in general, which I have read since 2007, after meeting India, and more recently, after Cluj Center for Indian Studies was opened at Babes Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca. In the last part, "Parallel Stories" there are some writings about books that helped me to understand some certain aspects of the topics I approached as a researcher, but also some stories about distant and extraordinary worlds.
The article investigates how firms can achieve high levels of customer loyalty under different configurations of perceived switching costs, returns management, customer value, and customer ...satisfaction.
In order to better explain the sources of customer loyalty within the B2B context, researchers have already introduced various antecedents and developed several models, however past studies concentrated exclusively on the main ‘net effects’ of these antecedents. Because of the complex reality in which the phenomena of interest manifests itself, complexity theory tenets can provide a more accurate understanding of what generates customer loyalty. Applying this theory, the current article seeks to determine all the possible “recipes” that build strong customer loyalty in the B2B context.
To address this research question the study employed qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) which assumes that the influence of attributes on a specific outcome (customer loyalty in a B2B context) depends on how the attributes are combined.
Future research can consider other possible combinations and explore how the impact of these antecedents on customer loyalty changes when other variables are considered.
•Complexity theory tenets can provide a more accurate understanding of what generates customer loyalty in the B2B context.•The study employs QCA which assumes that the impact of attributes depends on how they are combined together.•Results indicate that a single attribute contribute to loyalty depending on the presence or absence of other factors.
Research summary
The authors investigated investor reactions to the appointment of Black executives. The results indicate that investors respond: (1) more negatively to the announcement of Black CEO ...appointments than to White CEO appointments, (2) more negatively to the announcement of the Black top management team (TMT) appointments than to White TMT appointments, (3) more negatively to the announcement of Black CEO appointments than to Black TMT appointments, and (4) more negatively to the announcement of Black CEO appointments who are promoted from outside the firm than to the announcement of Black CEO appointments who are promoted from inside the firm. Moreover, the post‐hoc analysis revealed that investors react more negatively to the TMT appointment of Black executives than to the TMT appointment of Latino or Asian executives. Our results show the negative association between the appointment of Black executives and investors' reactions, and we hope it sparks future research examining causal factors and their potential solutions.

The field of international business (IB) is in need of more theory development. As such, the main focus of our manuscript was to provide guidance on how to build IB specific theory using grounded ...theory (GT). Moreover, we contribute to future theory development by identifying areas within IB where GT can be applied and the type of research issues that can be addressed using this methodology. Finally, we make a noteworthy contribution by discussing some of GT's caveats and limitations, particularly those relevant to IB. This effort is intended to spur further interest in the development of IB theory.
Abstract In the context of conflicts and threats specific to the security environment generated by the political, military, economic, social, technological and cultural challenges, as well as the ...obvious threat of the new COVID-19 virus to public health presented in the previous subchapter, we consider it imperative that we understand both the role of the military organization and the process by which the list of essential requirements for fulfilling the mission of the military organization is identified and established (Mission Essential Task List-METL). The identification of the relevant tactical scenarios, built on real facts extracted from the current world context, the analysis of the combat capacity of the subunits contributes to the realistic and adequate elaboration of a framework for the missions of the subunits.
In this paper, we seek to understand how an exchange, where a consumer receives a product from a brand and, in return, leaves an incentivized false positive review, affects that consumer and his/her ...relationship with that brand. We seek to do that by comparing the impact of leaving an incentivized false positive review to that of leaving an incentivized genuine positive review. We conducted two online experiments to explore whether leaving an incentivized false positive review (vs. incentivized genuine positive review) leads customers to feel guilty, impacting their satisfaction with the brand. To offer a more comprehensive understanding of these relationships, we also investigated whether customers’ levels of amorality and intrinsic religiosity affect the impact of leaving an incentivized (false and genuine) positive review on guilt and customer satisfaction. Our findings allow us to suggest several interesting theoretical and managerial implications.
It is often said that the interwar Romanian society had a westernized intellectual elite, perfectly connected to what the culture of Western Europe meant at that time. Among the characteristics that ...defined the intellectual life of interwar Romania were dialogue and the desire to argue elegantly, eruditely, critically, originally, with interlocutors from different fields of humanities and/or sciences. Unfortunately, the effervescence of the interwar period also contains the sad story of a brilliant young generation which fell prey to the destructive passion of politics. Discovering the truth is crucial for two main reasons: we can have a complete image of the generation and we can solve the historical mystery of interwar Romania.
Purpose
This study aims to explore the impact of one significant threat to the rigor of theory building within supply chain management, namely, the improper development of different measures for the ...same construct.
Design/methodology/approach
Two survey studies are conducted. Study 1 investigates the impact of three firm orientations on five of the most cited supply chain agility (SCA) scales. Study 2 explores the impact of the same five SCA scales on three firm performance indicators.
Findings
The findings reveal that the five SCA scales display adequate discriminant validity and thus measure distinct concepts. Further, the relationships between SCA and its antecedents and consequences vary significantly depending on the SCA scale used. In essence, the scale used determines whether a relationship is supported or not, implying that researchers have been loosely applying the same label (i.e. SCA) to distinct constructs.
Originality/value
In essence, the scale used determines whether a relationship is supported or not, implying that researchers have been loosely applying the same label (i.e. SCA) to distinct constructs. The findings indicate the need for further scrutiny and investigation regarding the rigor and validity of theory building within the area of SCA. Importantly, rigorous scale development should be encouraged. Scholars should develop new scales when necessary while carefully distinguishing their proposed constructs and measures from extant ones.
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to scrutinize the interplay between resilience and agility in explicating the concept of resilient agility and discuss institutional and organizational ...antecedents of resilient agility in volatile economies.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors develop a conceptual framework that offers an original account of underlying means of ambidextrous capabilities for organizational change and behaviors in volatile economies and how firms stay both resilient and agile in such contexts.
Findings
The authors suggest that resilient agility, an ambidextrous capability of sensing and acting on environmental changes nimbly while withstanding unfavorable disruptions, can explain entrepreneurial firms’ survival and prosperity. The authors then address institutional (instability and estrangement) and organizational (entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and bricolage) antecedents of resilient agility in volatile economies.
Originality/value
The authors highlight that unfavorable conditions in volatile economies might have bright sides for firms that can leverage them as entrepreneurial opportunities and propose that firms can achieve increased resilient agility when high levels of institutional instability and estrangement are matched with high levels of EO and bricolage.
