One of the main aims of this article is to analyse the integration policies and practices in Slovenia with particular focus on the period after the refugee crisis 2015/16. It starts with a ...description of the main features of the official integration system, its different levels of implementation (international, national, local), main actors, benefits and failures. It concludes with a description of various socially innovative practices of self-organization, inclusion and empowerment of migrants, which often complement and/or challenge the shortcomings of the official system and constitute an 'alternative' inclusion structure to Slovenian society.
Članek temelji na raziskavi, ki so jo avtorji opravili leta 2021. V središče postavlja izkušnje otrok in staršev beguncev z vključevanjem v slovenski vzgojno-izobraževalni sistem.
Most of the studies on Bangladeshi migration to Italy have been conducted in cities and towns that already have a relatively long tradition of hosting Bangladeshi communities, such as Rome, Vicenza ...and Venice. This article focuses on two recent local contexts of Bangladeshi migration to Italy: Padova and Cadoneghe in the Veneto region. The study attempts to answer the following research questions: What are the trends, channels and motivations behind Bangladeshi migration to Padova and Cadoneghe, from which Bangladeshi regions do the migrants originate and what are their cultural, socio-demographic and economic profiles?
In this study we sought to understand the transnational linkages and 'ways of belonging' of Bangladeshi migrants in Italy with their country of origin. Both quantitative and qualitative methodologies ...were applied. A total of 100 Bangladeshis were surveyed and 12 Bangladeshi migrants from the Province of Padova, Italy were subsequently interviewed. The findings of the study reveal that a high proportion of Bangladeshi migrants who participated in the study have strong transnational linkages with their homeland. They send remittances, maintain communication and visit their families, relatives, friends and others who live in their ancestral villages and towns in Bangladesh. The empirical findings also indicate strong transnational ways of belonging to their homeland. Adapted from the source document.
This paper describes how the children of Slovene emigrants interact on the Internet and explores the exceptionally rich communication that takes place among them. This crosses national borders and ...focuses on a number of cultural phenomena that can be ascribed to transnationality. These links have the advantage of not being controlled or influenced by parents, relatives or others, which facilitates greater freedom and flexibility when forming their own identity. The article addresses the use of online communication technologies for educational purposes by Slovenian emigrants and their descendants. Technologies such as web-classes, forums, blogs and social ...networks enable them to maintain transnational links with the homeland, especially in terms of learning the language, and exploring, preserving and negotiating cultural practices. The article builds on the extensive content analysis of web pages, portals and social network sites where they interact to discuss the variety of themes connected with Slovenian culture. It is argued that shared meanings are not necessarily communicated and negotiated within the frame of a single language, and that learning about cultural heritage and contemporary lifestyles through discussions on social networks is an efficient and popular mode of informal learning.
The Urban Diversity Final Publication is a representation of Urban Diversity project that lasted between 2017 and 2020. The project's aim was a creative connection of migrant entrepreneurs and their ...families in Ljubljana and Graz, and to help encourage and promote diversity in both cities. There are already some support and aid programs for self-employment and business establishment for migrants, however both cities also trace obstacles that abate migrant entrepreneurs from being creative and integrate into the society. These obstacles can be found on different levels, and are not easy to define or remove, while they also represent a large issue for migrant entrepreneurs and the host society, which stuns their potential and its own economic and social progress. The results and achievements in the publication present the good practice of removing social obstacles that already exist elsewhere in Europe.
