Sterile neutrinos could provide a link between the Standard Model particles and a dark sector, besides generating active neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism type I. We show that, if dark matter ...annihilation into sterile neutrinos determines its observed relic abundance, it is possible to explain the Galactic Center \(\gamma\)-ray excess reported by the Fermi-LAT Collaboration as due to an astrophysical component plus dark matter annihilations. We observe that sterile neutrino portal to dark matter provides an impressively good fit, with a p-value of 0.78 in the best fit point, to the Galactic Center \(\gamma\)-ray flux, for DM masses in the range (40-80) GeV and sterile neutrino masses 20 GeV \(\lesssim M_N < M_{DM}\). Such values are compatible with the limits from Fermi-LAT observations of the dwarfs spheroidal galaxies in the Milky Way halo, which rule out dark matter masses below \(\sim\) 50 GeV (90 GeV), for sterile neutrino masses \(M_N \lesssim M_{DM}\) (\(M_N \ll M_{DM}\)). We also estimate the impact of AMS-02 anti-proton data on this scenario.
Resumen Introducción y objetivo. La formación y la docencia son dos objetivos fundamentales de la Federación Ibero Latinoamericana de Cirugía Plástica (FILACP), entidad compuesta por las Sociedades ...Nacionales de Cirugía Plástica de 22 países de Ibero Latinoamérica. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo fue poner en común y discutir la situación de la formación especializada en Cirugía Plástica en los diferentes países miembros de la FILACP, en una reunión en la que estuvieron presentes tutores acreditados por cada una de la Sociedades Nacionales de Cirugía Plástica que componen la Federación. Material y método. Se realizaron encuestas y entrevistas personales a tutores y representantes de las sociedades nacionales miembros de la FILACP, en las que se recabó información sobre oferta docente anual y servicios acreditados, proceso de admisión, duración del periodo formativo, financiación de la formación, periodos lectivos anuales, métodos de supervisión y métodos de evaluación. Los resultados obtenidos se contrastaron y pusieron en común durante el Encuentro Internacional de Tutores de la FILACP celebrado en abril de 2022 en San José, Costa Rica. Resultados. En los paises de la Federación se formó en 2021 a un total de 539 residentes en 245 servicios docentes acreditados, siendo aproximadamente la oferta media de 1 residente por cada 700.000 habitantes. El examen fue la principal vía de acceso a la especialidad, cuya duración osciló entre 3 y 5 años, siendo 3 años lo más frecuente. Los periodos lectivos anuales estuvieron en rangos entre 1920 y 4150 horas, siendo la cifra más frecuente en torno a 2500 horas al año. La supervisión por plantilla y el jefe de residentes fueron figuras establecidas en muchos centros, y el examen fue el método de evaluación más extendido. Conclusiones. La FILACP es una potencia formativa y docente notable con un gran número de servicios acreditados y residentes cada año, pero la estructura formativa presenta una notable variabilidad entre las naciones que la componen, lo cual dificulta la homologación de los profesionales y la implantación de políticas comunes.
Axino and gravitino are promising candidates to solve the dark matter (DM) problem in the framework of supersymmetry. In this work, we assume that the axino is the lightest supersymmetric particle ...(LSP), and therefore contributes to DM. In the case of R-parity violating models, the axino can decay into a neutrino-photon pair with a lifetime much longer than the age of the Universe, yielding a potentially detectable signal. Interestingly, a gravitino next-to-LSP (NLSP) can live enough as to contribute to the relic density. We study both scenarios, only axino LSP as DM, and axino LSP with gravitino NLSP as DM. We carry out the analysis in the context of the \(\mu\nu\)SSM, which solves the \(\mu\) problem and reproduces neutrino data, only adding couplings involving right-handed neutrinos. In particular, we perform a complete analysis of the relevant parameter space of the model considering constraints from neutrino physics, cosmological observations, and \(\gamma\)-ray detection. We find that the axino or the gravitino can produce a signal detectable by future MeV-GeV \(\gamma\)-ray telescopes. In addition, in a parameter region where we get a well-tempered mixture of both particles, a double-line signal arises as a smoking gun.
Resumen OBJETIVO: Describir las características clínicas e histopatológicas de los casos de teratoma maduro con transformación maligna, su tratamiento y supervivencia. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Estudio ...retrospectivo, transversal y observacional efectuado entre enero de 2014 y diciembre de 2018 en un servicio de oncología ginecológica. Parámetros de estudio: etapa patológica del tumor, concentraciones de Ca 125, supervivencia y tratamiento. El tamaño de la muestra no permitió aplicar pruebas estadísticas. RESULTADOS: Se estudiaron 147 pacientes con diagnóstico de teratoma maduro, de éstos 4 experimentaron transformación maligna a carcinoma epidermoide y se descartaron 18 por información incompleta. El estudio histopatológico transoperatorio identificó malignidad en 3 de los 4 tumores de ovario. No se practicaron cirugías conservadoras de la fertilidad porque en ninguno de los casos fue necesaria. En 3 de los 4 teratomas maduros con transformación maligna se indicó esquema de quimioterapia coadyuvante. Todas las pacientes permanecen vivas y sin recaída hasta el momento. CONCLUSIONES: El estudio histopatológico transoperatorio es indispensable en todas las lesiones de ovario, incluso las de aspecto quístico. El tratamiento quirúrgico cuidadoso de los tumores malignos de ovario evita su ruptura y cambio en el pronóstico y tratamiento de las pacientes. El tratamiento quirúrgico y médico de una neoplasia poco frecuente, como el teratoma maduro con transformación maligna, mejora la supervivencia y evita subtratamientos o sobretratamientos.
Recent positron flux fraction measurements in cosmic-rays (CR) made by the AMS-02 satellite confirm and extends the evidence on the existence of a new (yet unknown) source of high energy positrons. ...To explain this excess, we use the gravitino of bilinear R-parity violating SUSY models as a decaying Dark Matter candidate, as the source of those high energy particles. Being a long lived weak-interacting and spin 3/2 particle, it offers several particularities which makes it an attractive candidate. We compute the electron, positron and \(\gamma\)-ray\ fluxes produced by each gravitino decay channel at the Earth. Combining the flux from the different decay modes we can fit AMS-02 measurements of the positron fraction, as well as the electron and positron fluxes, with a gravitino mass in the range \(1-2\) TeV and lifetimes of \(\sim 1.0-0.8\times 10^{26}\) s. . Then, we study the viability of these scenarios through their implications in \(\gamma\)-ray observations. We set limits on the gravitino lifetime using the Extragalactic \(\gamma\)-ray Background recently reported by the {\it Fermi}-LAT Collaboration and a state-of-the-art model of its known contributors. These limits exclude the gravitino parameter space which provides an acceptable explanation of the AMS-02 data. Therefore, we conclude that the gravitino of bilinear R-parity violating models is ruled out as the unique primary source of electrons and positrons needed to explain the rise in the positron fraction.
The $\mu\nu$SSM solves the $\mu$ problem of supersymmetric models and
reproduces neutrino data, simply using couplings with right-handed neutrinos
$\nu$'s. Given that these couplings break explicitly ...$R$ parity, the gravitino
is a natural candidate for decaying dark matter in the $\mu \nu$SSM. In this
work we carry out a complete analysis of the detection of $\mu \nu$SSM
gravitino dark matter through $\gamma$-ray observations. In addition to the
two-body decay producing a sharp line, we include in the analysis the
three-body decays producing a smooth spectral signature. We perform first a
deep exploration of the low-energy parameter space of the $\mu \nu$SSM taking
into account that neutrino data must be reproduced. Then, we compare the
$\gamma$-ray fluxes predicted by the model with Fermi-LAT observations. In
particular, with the 95$\%$ CL upper limits on the total diffuse extragalactic
$\gamma$-ray background using 50 months of data, together with the upper limits
on line emission from an updated analysis using 69.9 months of data. For
standard values of bino and wino masses, gravitinos with masses larger than
about 4 GeV, or lifetimes smaller than $10^{28}$ s, produce too large fluxes
and are excluded as dark matter candidates. However, when limiting scenarios
with large and close values of the gaugino masses are considered, the
constraints turn out to be less stringent, excluding masses larger than 17 GeV
and lifetimes smaller than $4\times 10^{25}$ s.
We set conservative, robust constraints on the annihilation and decay of dark matter into various Standard Model final states under various assumptions about the distribution of the dark matter in ...the Milky Way halo. We use the inclusive photon spectrum observed by the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope through its main instrument, the Large-Area Telescope (LAT). We use simulated data to first find the "optimal" regions of interest in the gamma-ray sky, where the expected dark matter signal is largest compared with the expected astrophysical foregrounds. We then require the predicted dark matter signal to be less than the observed photon counts in the a priori optimal regions. This yields a very conservative constraint as we do not attempt to model or subtract astrophysical foregrounds. The resulting limits are competitive with other existing limits, and, for some final states with cuspy dark-matter distributions in the Galactic Center region, disfavor the typical cross section required during freeze-out for a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) to obtain the observed relic abundance.
