According to the World Health Organization, human life expectancy has increased significantly around the world over the past century, but this process is inevitably accompanied by aging. Therefore, ...persons who have reached the elderly and senile age often become infirm, especially physically. As a result, such people find it increasingly difficult to make movements related to self-service and movement when using standard clothing and shoes. In a study of 55 patients (from 60 to 87 years), conducted for the first time from the point of view of medical and social rehabilitation, data were obtained that reveal the nature of physical limitations of this group of people, which significantly complicate them use of standard clothing and shoes. The main conclusion of the work is the relevance of the development of medical and technical requirements for the design and production of clothing and footwear specifically for the elderly and senile taking into account their changed anthropometric parameters and their characteristic functional limitations.
Stillwellite, ideally CeBSiO5, is a rare mineral, however, its discovery stimulated the intense studies of a new class of stillwellite-like materials with remarkable electrical and optical ...properties. With the use of the modern non–ambient single crystal X-ray diffraction, this work sheds some light on the evolution of stillwellite crystal structure during the process of high-temperature transformations noted for the most of these practically important compounds. Here a sample of natural stillwellite stillwellite-(Ce) from the Darai-Pioz alkaline massif (Tadjikistan) has been studied by means of electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) in a wide temperature range from −180 up to 1200 °C. The dielectric properties are also measured in the range from −180 up to 500 °C. The low (LT) and the high temperature (HT) structure deformation and transformation are described from single XRD data including the detail analysis of deformation of cationic polyhedra on heating. The disorder-to-order phase transition occurs in the stillwellite structure at about 450–500 °C. Both LT (disordered) and HT (ordered) modifications are characterized as relatively low expansion materials: αvolume = 15 and 19 × 10-6 °C-1 for LT and HT phases, respectively. The high-temperature transformation of stillwellite involves some negative thermal expansion (αvolume = −11 × 10-6 °C-1) caused by order-disorder process and presumably by the partial oxidation of Ce3+ to Ce4+. The dielectric properties show a maximum in the region of transformation as well, but the study of dielectric hysteresis loops did not confirm the ferroelectric order of stillwellite structure at room temperature. The high-temperature behavior and the decomposition process of stillwellite are dictated by the partial oxidation of cerium.

A special problem in the surgery of rectal cancer is connected with a need for appropriate removal of intestine parts, along with the tumor, including the fragment close to the sphincter. To ...determine the length of fragments to remove, it is necessary to reveal areas without changes in molecule functioning, specific for tumor. The purpose of the present study was to investigate functioning the proteasomes, the main actors in protein hydrolysis, in patient rectal adenocarcinoma and different intestine locations. Chymotrypsin-like and caspase-like activities, open to complex influence of different factors, were analyzed in 43-54 samples by Suc-LLVY-AMC- and Z-LLE-AMC-hydrolysis correspondingly. Both activities may be arranged by the decrease in the location row: cancer→adjacent tissue→proximal (8-20 cm from tumor) and distal (2 and 4 cm from tumor) sides. These activities did not differ noticeably in proximal and distal locations. Similar patterns were detected for the activities and expression of immune subunits LMP2 and LMP7 and expression of 19S and PA28αβ activators. The largest changes in tumor were related to proteasome subtype containing LMP2 and PA28αβ that was demonstrated by native electrophoresis. Thus, the results indicate a significance of subtype LMP2-PA28αβ for tumor and absence of changes in proteasome pool in distal fragments of 2-4 cm from tumor.
The paper discusses environmentally friendly ways to improve the productivity of crop production. Drugs made from plants containing terpenes are capable to protect crops from various diseases and ...stimulate their development. Outer bark of birch may contain triterpene alcohol betulin up to 40% of the mass, which allows to obtain environmentally friendly plant protection products. Experimental studies are devoted to studying the process of extracting betulin from birch bark, creating a betulin-containing preparation "Stimulin" for treating seeds and vegetative plants, as well as testing "Stimulin" on various agricultural cultures. The results of the use of the drug showed a significant increase in yield (by 8-35 %%) of crops such as wheat, barley, buckwheat, soybeans, and watermelons. The test of the fungicidal activity of "Stimulin" was carried out on sea buckthorn, the main causative agent of diseases and the cause of drying of which is the Fusarium mushroom. The fungicidal activity of "Stimulin" is comparable to potent synthetic agrochemicals.
