Capnocytophagacanimorsus (C. canimorsus), a commensal Gram-negative bacillus found in the oral cavity of dogs and cats, is pathogenic for humans, with the most common clinical manifestations being ...septicemia, meningitis and endocarditis. Herein we report a case of CC bacteremia manifesting as multiple plaques of erythema annulare centrifugum associated with monoarthritis of the knee.
A 66-year-old man consulted for a skin rash and monoarthritis of the right knee with fever following an insect bite on his right hallux. Cutaneous examination revealed numerous erythematous annular plaques on the trunk and limbs with centrifugal extension. Analysis of synovial fluid from the right knee showed an inflammatory liquid with a sterile bacteriological culture and PCR was negative for Borrelia. C. canimorsus bacteria were isolated from blood cultures. 16S RNA PCR performed on the synovial fluid was positive for the same organism. The patient's history revealed that his hallux wound had been licked by his dog.
C. canimorsus most frequently affects immunosuppressed subjects. Cutaneous signs are seen in half of all cases, most frequently presenting as cellulitis, pathological livedo or thrombotic purpura. We report herein a case of CC bacteremia in an immunocompetent patient manifesting as multiple plaques of erythema annulare centrifugum, an unusual sign, and monoarthritis of one knee.
The crystallization kinetics of Cu(38)Zr(46)Ag(8)A(18) bulk metallic glass in non-isothermal mode and isothermal mode are investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. In non-isothermal ...conditions, the average value of activation energy is determined by Kissinger equation, and the value is around 310 kJ/mol. The crystallization enthalpy is about 28.69 J/g. In addition, the local Avrami exponent is adopted to describe the crystallization process. In isothermal route, the average value of activation energy for crystallization is calculated by the Arrhenius equation, and the value is about 451 kJ/mol. The crystallization enthalpy is about 1.63 J/g. And the Avrami exponent n ranges from 4.10 to 4.74, which indicates that the crystallization mechanism is mainly governed by constant nucleation rate. The created phases in the two conditions are different which can be confirmed by the X-ray diffraction test, this result is in accordance with the different crystallization enthalpies, but it's different with other investigations.

We prove that there does not exist a tiling with Lee spheres of radius at least 2 in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space. In particular, this result verifies a conjecture of Golomb and Welch forn=3.
Due to their brittleness, bulk metallic glasses (BMG) are generally difficult to form at room temperature. A fruitful way to get components is to deform them in their supercooled liquid region (SLR). ...In this region, BMG generally exhibit particularly large strain capacities. This behaviour is sometimes reported as superplasticity since several requirements of superplasticity are fulfilled. For instance, particularly large m values (up to 1) can be measured and consequently one can wonder if such forming conditions of BMG can be considered as “ideal” superplasticity. In this paper, we report studies dealing with high temperature deformation of various BMGs. Similarities and differences between high temperature deformation of BMGs and superplasticity of fine grained alloys are discussed.
Les patients usagers de substances par injection intraveineuse (UDIV) ont un risque accru d’infections cutanées et ostéoarticulaires. La connaissance des micro-organismes responsables de ces ...infections est importante pour initier une antibiothérapie probabiliste adaptée.
Les dossiers de 11 patients permettant de répertorier 18 évènements ont été identifiés par le PMSI de 2004 à 2015 dans les services de médecine interne accueillant les patients UDIV, le service de chirurgie orthopédique s’occupant des pathologies ostéoarticulaires et le CSAPA du CHU de Strasbourg. L’âge moyen des patients était de 37ans (27–55ans), le sex-ratio M/F est de 1,25. Tous les patients consommaient de manière active des drogues en injection intraveineuse. Le diagnostic était basé sur des signes cliniques et radiologiques d’infection ostéoarticulaire associés à la culture positive d’un prélèvement articulaire ou osseux et/ou au moins une hémoculture positive. Une arthrite était retrouvée dans 9 (50 %) cas, une ostéite pour les 9 (50 %) autres. Le membre supérieur était atteint dans 8 (44 %) cas, en majorité avec une atteinte de l’avant-bras (6 patients), le membre inférieur chez 7 (39 %) patients et le rachis chez 4 (22 %) patients. Une bactériémie était retrouvée dans 4 (22 %) cas. Un seul patient était atteint par le VIH. Six patients sur les 11 ont fait au moins deux épisodes d’infections ostéoarticulaires sur la période d’étude. Le Staphylococcus aureus était le germe le plus représenté et a été identifié seul dans 9 (50 %) des infections. Un S. aureus résistant à la méticilline (SARM) était identifié dans 1 seul des épisodes. Quatre des infections à S. aureus étaient une spondylodiscite, et 5 atteignaient une articulation du membre inférieur. Le mode de contamination était dans presque tous les cas (8 cas sur 9) hématogène c’est-à-dire faisant suite à une injection vasculaire de drogue avec greffe bactérienne à distance du point d’injection. Aucune endocardite n’a été retrouvée chez ces 9 patients, la majorité ayant eu une échographie cardiaque (8 cas sur 9). Deux patients avaient un abcès en regard de l’articulation atteinte. Une flore polymicrobienne était retrouvée dans 8 (44 %) cas, c’est-à-dire comportant une flore diverse composée de bacilles Gram négatif, d’anaérobies, de Pseudomonas aeruginosa, de S. aureus, de Streptococcus, d’Enterococcus. Il s’agissait d’une atteinte de l’avant-bras pour 6 cas, du fémur pour 1 cas et de l’humérus pour 1 cas. Le mode de contamination était par contiguïté dans tous les cas c’est-à-dire faisant suite à une plaie délabrante des tissus mous consécutive à des injections répétées avec atteinte de l’os sous-jacent. Ces plaies étaient dans tous les cas chroniques et entretenues par de multiples réinjections. Un patient a dû être amputé à un quart supérieur de l’avant-bras en raison d’une perte de substance trop importante avec cicatrisation impossible. Aucune levure n’a été retrouvée dans les prélèvements.
Le S. aureus représente dans notre étude 50 % des infections ostéoarticulaires chez les UDIV. Ce chiffre est similaire à la dernière étude parue sur le sujet qui retrouvait 52 % (111/215 patients) de SA 1. Dans notre étude, toutes les infections mono-bactériennes à S. aureus étaient d’origine hématogène et se manifestaient sur un mode aigu avec une atteinte articulaire au niveau du membre inférieur ou sous forme de spondylodiscite. La proportion de SARM était faible avec un seul patient alors que dans l’étude d’Allison elle était de 38 %. Quarante-quatre pour cent des infections étaient polymicrobiennes. Ce chiffre est similaire au dernier paru dans la littérature qui est de 33 % 1. Le mode de contamination dans les infections polymicrobiennes faisait suite à des injections répétées dans des plaies provoquant une perte de substance importante avec exposition osseuse et ostéite. Ces infections évoluaient sur un mode chronique et étaient toujours des ostéites qui pouvaient parfois conduire à une amputation du fait d’une cicatrisation impossible liée à une impossibilité de greffe cutanée.
D’après notre étude, on peut distinguer deux types d’infections ostéoarticulaires chez les UDIV. D’un côté les infections aiguës à S. aureus avec un mode de contamination bactériémique et touchant quasi exclusivement les articulations et notamment le rachis. De l’autre, les infections chroniques polymicrobiennes, avec un mode de contamination par contiguïté, causant des ostéites de contact.

Metallic glasses display interesting mechanical properties including high mechanical resistance and large capacity to store elastic energy. Since metallic glasses can now be produced in bulk ...conditions, they can be used for structural applications. In this new context, thermoforming of metallic glasses can be a particularly well adapted technique for production of small size components with good surface finish. As for other glasses, metallic glasses can be preferentially thermoformed in their supercooled liquid region. However, since metallic glasses are still emerging materials, the mechanisms of high temperature deformation remain not completely understood and intensive work is currently carried out to identify the elementary mechanisms of deformation. Moreover, since thermoforming is performed in the supercooled liquid region, the thermal stability of the glass to be formed is a key point for the success of the thermoforming process. Finally, it is also shown that thermoforming conditions can be used to produce multi materials associating metallic glasses and conventional metallic alloys.
A cograph is a graph without induced paths of length 4. A graph G is (2, 1) if its vertex set can be partitioned into at most 2 independent sets and 1 clique. In this paper, we present a structural characterization and a decomposition theorem for cographs-(2, 1) and, consequently, for cographs-(1, 2), leading to linear time recognition algorithms for both classes.
